Changes in Weather

Whether you believe in Global Warming or not, changes are happening. Just since 1880 when temperatures started to be recorded, in the last decade, 8 of the 10 years have been the hottest on record. Since the start of the Industrial Revolution, the CO2 levels in the atmosphere are creating an umbrella affect that is holding the heat towards the Earth. Just look at what has happened in 2017. Fires in California are worsening, hurricanes more prevalent and stronger, earthquakes; and higher temps on the West coast. With the ocean temperatures already increased by 1 degree centigrade (33.8F), the Arctic glaciers are melting below the surface causing the warmer waters to increase hurricane productivity. Signs are already showing. Take Katrina in 2005. 1200 dead, 450,000 evacuated and that was only a Category 3. Now we've had Harvey and Irma; both at a Cat 5. In 2012 Hurricane Sandy caused problems in 24 states and New York had a 13' storm surge which was the 2nd most destructive hurricane in history. We are already at a tipping point. With the permafrost melting it will be releasing new diseases from bacteria and bringing some of the old ones back like: Cholera, Yellow Fever, Malaria, Black Plague and increase cases of Zika, Disintery and Anthrax because of the increase in the mosquito population. We are at the tipping point of safety and by 2025, with increasing temperatures, it will change the character of human existence on this planet and nowhere will be safe. There are however 2 things that can be done to prevent this disaster. #1; cut fossil fuels. #2; new technology; as in, giant pumps that are 100 yards across that allows the warmer ocean water to drop down inside funnels allowing the cooler water below to rise; and also create a Stratus Shield that sprays sulpher dioxide upwards into the stratosphere to help cool the planet. This info was on the show "2 Degrees: The Point of No Return" on the History Channel.

Changes are happening. During 911 all flights were grounded. There was a hush in the skies. I often wonder what would happen if everything except life supporting activity were grounded. Would the earth itself react differently?

yeah just one thing @nanette64 and of course and shutting those big producers down now might seem almost impossible. Either way if the future turns out as some predict it will they will be shut down anyway. Mother earth will not put up with the abuse much longer? Things can be done now and might need to be anyway as it becomes the top priority not some nutter in North Korea. Sorry about the dig bad hair cut guy. I just don't like you. Feed your people stop playing with rude toys. --- okay that was a rant. Back on track. What about greener cities for people not cities built around robot cars? Just another stupid idea I guess. LA will hate me.

Well hi girl, dang it's good to hear from you; been awhile. Considering how many planes per day are in the air and the nasty stuff coming out of them, it probably would make a huge difference @Bluedoll . Although coal plants, nuclear energy plants etc., would make a much bigger difference.

@Bluedoll With solar and wind power, there is no reason to continue using the 'other' more deadly options. And oh yeah, with Kim Jung-un and his insanity, WWIII is a strong possibility. The traffic on the highways is absolutely nuts. Maybe we need a major disaster to 'clean' things up.

Good info. It does seem that weather has been getting more disasterous as years go on. I do believe people are the main part of the problem.

We already have enough odd temps here in Latvia. We had practically no summer and who knows what will happen now because we should have Indian summer before autumn arrives but the autumn rains have already arrived.

I agree, we are in global warming. Earthquakes have increased, so have hurricanes along with the strength of each one. There's a lot to think about.

You are correct. Global warming is real and we should be doing more to turn things around. But this country, sadly is way too greedy for anything good. So that leaves us, the people to deal with this issue. One thing I do know is that we should have access to all the free energy that Tesla had discovered. I am talking about Nikola Tesla. But the government keeps that under wraps and will not share that. And for one reason only, pure greed. We should damn all the corporations that are killing out planet.

That's very alarming indeed. I saw it also on TV; we just hope people will do a bit that each can do to offset it.

The exploding in population and the abuse of natural resources, etc all contribute to this problem of global warming. I like watching those programs about what we could or should do to help our world.
