Isn't it a sin to share a testimony that is yet to happen

September 18, 2017 7:06am CST
My pastor urged people to always share testomies of what they want God to do for them even if it yet to happen, that this would push God to do it.I'm like isn't this lying to a whole congregation.Supposing at the end of the day what you testify doesn't come to pass, wouldn't one be term a liar especially in the house of God. I didn't seem to agree with him about pushing God that way. What do you think considering the fact that we are told praises moves God to work.

I'm not a believer. But I must say that this is a very strange attitude! Since when can you influence God's actions? 'Pushing' God sounds even blasphemous to me.

@augusta123 I shouldn't have written this. I refuse to discuss religion on this - or any other - site.

Oh, that's blasphemy. No one can tell God what to do. The best thing we do is to ask God and thank Him for all the all the blessings.

Interesting question. I know some people say "God Willing" before saying something that hasn't happened yet. I don't know that I would give testimony before the fact but it might matter in how you say it.

Not to disrespect your pastor in any way. But he said that all wrong. He should have asked the church what are they believing for through our faith in God. If you don't have faith. You have nothing. Faith cometh by hearing and that comes from reading God's Word on a regular basis. Romans 10:17. God is already in us. When you got born again. Jesus came to live inside of you. 2Corinthians 13:5, Ephesians 3:17, and Colossians 1:27. What you believe moves God to work. We are all little gods in God's eye. Psalms 82:7 says so. So when you are believing God for something your faith in God will bring it to you. Since you are a little god. Born of the Almighty God. You will have what you are believing for. You must speak what you want into existence. It's all up to you. God works through our belief system. It all starts with your faith and reading and understanding Gods Word. I live by Gods Word. Everything that is good in my life comes from believing in Gods Word. I am no big time Christian. istill make mistakes. A lot. By reading God's Word over a period of time. I am glad to say that I am not like I used to be and He has answered my prayers. When I decided to get married. I believed God for a husband and within 2 years of my prayers, He sent me one. After He worked on changing me first. God prepared me for the man I wanted in my life. It's all up to you. It's more than going to church you have to really read and study the Bible. Work the Word and the Word will work for you. You're not pushing God. Your believing God! I hope this helps.

I am going to echo what everyone else is saying, if God is truly God then He can't be pushed into anything. Also, you are right; to testify about something that has not happened is a lie.
