I am at our local hospital waiting while my husband has his colonoscopy. It started a little later than expected so I will be here a while yet. Hopefully it will be all good news and we can head out for a bite to eat he hasn't had any food since 9 am yesterday.

We didn't get hope until 4 p.m. and I made us ham and cheese sandwiches. We were both starved.

Thinking? I thought it was mandatory ...for some medical insurances.

It is not a bad idea to have at least one, if there are no issues and you don't have any family history of issues well then one might be enough.

@vandana7 Not here. Here it's only advisable. Each country has its own regulations.

Surprisingly, he wasn't ravenous, I think the anesthesia killed his appetite.

The prep is the worst part. My husband also had polyps found and removed. That means he has to go back 5 years later. I got a clean bill of health so don't have to go back for 10 years... of course that was almost 5 years ago already.

@BelleStarr And do you have to pay for this... or is it covered under your insurance?

Here if you have polyps it is back in two years and regular visits are every 5 years.

I remember taking my dad to his colonoscopy, and they told him no greasy food for 24 hours. Right after he made me take him to breakfast to get bacon!

That is always one thing I find interesting is the amount of time they want you to wait in between the time you eat something, etc. Even for people who are Diabetic. I guess they always continue to think everything will be OK letting someone go without eating for so long. But here's hoping everything came out OK

When you are getting anesthesia, the danger is aspiration of anything that is in your stomach so I do understand why they do it.
