The End Is Nigh - Or Is it?

world end

All the posts I've recently seen on the question if the end of the world is imminent come from American members. Usually, such discussions fill the media to the brim. Yet, my husband and I have noticed NOTHING in the Italian and German media - newspapers, radio, TV - which we've read, listened to or watched during the last days. Is it possible that only the American world is going to end? If so, what does this tell us?

There are two theories on why the world was supposed to end today. One is a biblical end of the world and the other is the planet Nibiru was supposed to collide with Earth. Neither seems to have occurred. Both were reported in the international press, including The Telegraph and The International Business Times.

I've only heard that the world was supposed to end today on myLot. Nowhere else. I've been seeing a lot of Jehovah's Witnesses around in the last week or two. I wonder if they thought today would bring their end, and they were having a final push to sell their beliefs. Hmmm ...

Your husband missed the news in the Corriere della Sera, they mentioned the event, just as a curiosity, it was a short article.

@MALUSE I think nobody in Italy took the prediction seriously. I told to my husband and he said he was more concerned about the North Korea situation.

@LadyDuck This is indeed frightening. People don't need extraterrestrial forces to destroy the planet. They can do it themselves.

Thanks! He missed it indeed, so we weren't prepared. But imagine to be prepared and then nothing happens.

@maluse If I thought the world was going to end on a specific date I'd do all the things that I want to do but have been afraid to in case I might get caught, like ... well I can't really think of anything. What a waste of an end.

Yes, especially as there will be only one end. No repeat.

The world as we know it may end (maybe in just the USA) because of all the problems of late. Or is people just scared because North America is seeing more natural disaster? Hurricanes and earth quakes, fires and floods. I don`t know when the end will come. I really don`t sit and think about that.

@sugartoes No, it couldn't. You'll have to wait ~ 7 billion years. Life on earth may end a bit sooner, though.

That American unemployment has reached gigantic proportions and they are using such hype to bring focus on them.

Americans are more informed than those in other countries, to the point that it seems as if the countries that do not keep informed about such end times news are oblivious of it. But ignorance is not bliss.

That the US needs to clean house @MALUSE . In other words, straighten out all of the stupidity.

I also read it from a post here. And it is already Sept. 24 here in our place and nothing happened except for some light earthquakes.

There may be signs, but no one knows the exact date on which the world will end.
