Comedy?

United States

My daughter took me to a comedy show today. I love spending time with her. The comedian was good, but kind off controversial. Now mind you I am not prejudice at all. I have friends of all colors, religions, etc. But even so this comedian was very funny, when he kept referring to "you white people", or "white folks" it rubbed me wrong, not even sure why. Of course he put it in a humorous context but it just did not seem real, or feel right, if that makes sense. What do you guys think?

Sometimes stand up comedian are offensive with what they utter just to make people laugh. They are hitting below the belt.

I've learnt that the term for this is 'reverse discrimination'.

I think making fun of any group is not OK unless it is your own group. For example, I could imitate foreigners in Japan but not Japanese people.

A lot of comedians use stereotypes like that - It's part of the act

as long as you don't take skin colors as an offend, enjoy the comedy show then
