As we draw close to holiday season once more , I find myself thinking about gifts for people.  Well alright, so it's not really close to the holiday season, but still, I like buying gifts ahead, far far ahead.  So I (personally) am into buying holiday gifts now or earlier.  Here are some cool gift ideas.  They don't apply to anyone who I buy gifts for, but perhaps they will apply to people on your gifts list.  Though *** Keep in mind *** THESE GIFTS MAY WELL WORK BEST FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WHO ARE ALSO VERY PRACTICAL.  So some would love it, and others would likely not really care for it.  "Survival Kits" Kit #1 )  May be ideal for someone moving into their own place for the first time.  Pack a plastic tote box with items like: bandages, salve, anti-itch cream, over the counter medicines for common ailments, heating pad, ice pack  Kit #2 )  Best for someone moving into their own place for the first time  Cleaning / housekeeping supplies.  Pack a plastic box with items such as : bathroom cleaner, kitchen cleaner, disposable and re-useable gloves, dish soap, laundry soap,  glass cleaner, furniture polish, Air sprays  and if your budget allows - a vacuum cleaner, a broom, a mop etc.  Kit #3)  Best for a new car owner.  Also best if you have some car knowledge to impart to them.  Fill a large plastic tote with items such as - quart of oil, pre-mixed anti-freeze, jumper cables, a small selection of tools, disposable gloves, brake fluid, extra car fuses.  For the latter 2 items you should know what their car takes, as different cars take different fuses and sometimes different brake fluids.   I have received many items that fit #1 and #2 and received #3 from my parents, and I gotta say it is really helpful as all of those items cost money and if you are just getting your start in a new place or being a new car owner they not only count up into a surprising amount of money but also time of going to buy it, and experience of figuring out that "Oh!   It is really good to have XYZ on hand".   Hope you can use it for some people on your list and that they enjoy it. I give practical gifts. When detergent and fabric softener go on sale, I'll buy 4 of each, the same with toilet paper, paper towels, dish liquid and other common household cleaning items. Each gets wrapped up and tagged. I try to put them either in a big box that is wrapped with colorful paper or a big gift bag.

@FayeHazel they can spend their money on other things that they need. I try to buy name brand items for them. Often times they only purchase store brands for themselves. So, this is a treat for them.

@ElusiveButterfly True, sometimes it's a bit of luxury to have the "name brand" soaps, cleaners, etc. Though I admit - my favorite brand is a $1 brand.(LA's Awesome)

That is very wise, sale shop. Sometimes there are really good prices. I bet it is much appreciated for the recipients don't need to go buy these things on their own

those are great ideas indeed... I usually just end giving gift vouchers so they can choose what they need..

Good idea too. They can pick the right size (if clothing/shoes) or whatever else they may want or need

@FayeHazel I think I'd probably be happier getting those things as a housewarming gift than house decor items!

That's funny! One of my friends used to love to get those type things in place of other, fancier things for gifts, too

@cahaya1983 So true - because it takes someone really close to you to know your exact tastes in décor. :-)

my friend, i cannot see a picture here. it is better to receive items rather than money for Christmas gift-giving.

@FayeHazel items can be kept for remembrance. money can buy what we hope for but the essence of gift-giving is already out.

Oh, it's so strange - my image didn't want to upload, tried it twice. It was a picture of a piece of fabric that has green, orange and yellow circles on white. Just a photo I took. I agree - items seem more personal then $.

Not good ideas for me, as noone would like those or need them. But hope someone can benefit from them. Even if not for Christmas but just as gifts

@FayeHazel I now have to think and come up with a cool idea for the grab bag when I find out which family member I pick.
