Start by reading and responding to discussions that others have posted. Do not leave short responses to a discussion such as "oh that is nice", or "I agree with you", be more detailed with your response. And pay attention to what is being discussed. Some just post willy nilly responses and it is clear that they do not take the time to fully read the discussion. Not a good way to get followers.
Post some discussions. Once you get your feet wet, you'll catch on fast.

You should read the FAQs and guidelines in the help section.
We are paid for interactions, not for posts (a post without any response is not paid). You can write about quite anything, provided that it is not against the guidelines. If you do not understand something, you can start a new discussion to ask.

You dont get paid for what you post. You get paid for the interaction people do with you. But some wont do it if you dont do it back. Or if you hardly post in discussions.

Don't worry, no matter what your discussion is about someone is sure to respond to it, just make sure you comment on all responses to your discussions.
Interacting with any discussion you find interesting can work just as well, there are a few members here who never write a discussion but they interact a lot.
