What makes your living room complete?

There's a reason why many TV shows and family sitcoms typically revolve around the living room. Because that's where the fun is! Plus, if there's one space that can give the strongest first impression of a house (and probably the people living in it, too), I would say it's the living room. I realize one thing though. That people define a complete living room differently. Some people are just fine without a TV, some are not. Other people need to have houseplants. Flowers. Bean bags. Cats! What about you? What is the thing that makes your living room/lounge feels complete (other than people, of course )?

I still don't own a house but a TV, sofa sets, decorations and some carpets will make it complete. I also want it to be spacious

Comfortable sofa is a must for me, too! Even more important than a TV.

TV? I don't watch tv anymore and the moment I arrive in the house I go straight to my bedroom. So I really don't have any idea. But if you ask my son, it'll be his PS4.

Not much of a tv person here either. So you don't spend a lot of time in your living room?

I can survive without air conditioning in the living room even on a hot day, but in my bedroom that's a must.

the sala (living room) is also in front of the house here. it's where we receive visitors and where the family watches tv. we've always had plants around the house, and now we have some inside, too. i don't watch tv anymore, but i can hear it since it's loud.

I live in an apartment now so there's just one living room. But at my parents' there are two, one for "formally" entertaining the guests and the other one for us to watch tv and just hang out.

Let me see, tons of couch, a huge fan and a TV enough for me to see. I think that's about it and some plants too.

You prefer a fan than an A/C? And yes I think houseplants are definitely a great addition to the living room.

I haven't had a DVD player for years now. But I do have a lamp with a soft light. I think it makes the environment so cosy at night.

@ridingbet Yeah I know some people purposely leave the TV on while doing other things just so there's noise in the house.

@cahaya1983 that is true. the TV is the only one except our barking dogs, that should be the noise here in our house.

Our living room is for company. Our family room is for relaxation and company. A complete family room must have plenty of comfortable seating, a chaise, blankets, a big screen smart TV, blue ray player, window treatments and sun filters, an area rug, theater surround system, music capabilities, plenty of lighting with dimmer switches, and a cat of course!

I like it simple too. Having a book shelf is nice, I've seen some very creative ideas to display books so they can be a decor too.
