Possible trip to... who knows where...

Some exciting news. I'll be meeting with a coordinator for a christian evangelistic group that travels to other countries like Africa and Bolivia to drill water wells and spread the word of god to the local populace. The guy in charge wants me to paint a mural on a 48 ft barn for them to use as another headquarters, this is why I'm in contact with him. (This is all under contract of course) I'll be meeting with him next month to discuss a project that I really want to do, and that's to build a hut/huts for the people of these other countries and paint murals on the huts, if he's willing to allow me along on the trip and can provide me with a couple of helpers. The issue on my mind is that if this traveling adventure happens, how will I manage to afford it?... I was also considering having someone document the venture by film, it would be a great memory to hold on to... how in the heck would I afford to get a documentarian on board?! Luckily, I don't think I really need to start stressing about this plan till next year... right now it's just ambition. Does anyone have ideas on how I could bring about money and supplies for this possible excursion?

That's a great opportunity. Ask for sponsorship perhaps, see if some brand wants their logo on a mural. Okay, a funding campaign sounds more reasonable.

You can do a GoFundMe or Kickstarter campaign like what StacyB wrote in her reply. You can also solicit funds by asking businesses to provide the materials that you'll be using in making a mural or building those huts. Pledges earned through concert benefit shows or benefit dinners are also an option. If you want to document an event, you can ask a videographer/photographer to tag along and work out an x-deal with him/her.
