The other day my colleague told me that he would leave early, as he needs to help his son in preparation of his exam on Hindi subject. His son studies in class -
IX.
He helped his son and next day, when we met, I asked him about the previous day. He told that he was with his son for hours together to help him master Hindi subject.
Thereafter, he received a call from his wife, which made him tense. His wife told him on phone that their son has reached home from school and further told him that their son did not bother to properly check the date sheet of exam and just before entering the examination hall, he came to know that it was exam of Mathematics and not of Hindi subject. He got puzzled but as his maths was good, he was able to solve the exam successfully.
Has any such incident happened with you? You prepared for a different subject than the actual one or your child committed any such mistake? It has never happened with me.

Wow . . . now I can't say that has ever happened to me either! Oh, I would kick myself if I did that! Your colleague's son was quite fortunate that he was good at math . . . it would have been a very unfortunate situation had it been me !

Yeah, luckily my colleague's son has good base in maths and he was able to take the exam without much preparations and was able to secure more than 60%. Each one of us may not be able to handle such a unforeseen situation, that includes you and me.

@much2say Yes, he was lucky. I agree with you that it is not easy to take an exam, when one is not fully prepared. One could get nervous.

@dpk262006 He certainly lucked out! I don't know that I would have been able to pull that off even in a subject I am good at . . . usually tests are quite specific about what it covers.

Your first sentence tells that you perhaps did not read the discussion carefully.. By the way the incident did not happen with my son.
You were meticulous when you were a student and this kind of goof up did not happen with you.

@SIMPLYD It is alright. I knew that you wrote it inadvertently, I was just pulling up your legs.
It is great to hear that you are meticulous and careful in your work.

The boy was good in Maths and has a good base, therefore, even without preparing for the exam, he could secure more than 60% in the exam.
Yes, he and his parents have learnt their lesson and they are likely to be more cautious in future.

@JudyEv It was a kind of mid term exam, not the final exams.

No children here -- though I am happy it worked out that the boy;s math skills were good enough for him to do well , even though he hadn't prepared much for it

So far no. I'm pretty detailed when it comes to important dates. Good that the boy didn't have trouble completing the Math exam though.

He was lucky it wasn't Social Studies or even Science. It would have surely given him a healthy shock. It hasn't happened to me but I dreamed about it a lot. The dream, was scary enough.

Daljinder you appear to have changed your avatar and screen name, therefore, at the first glance I could not recognize you.
Actually, the boy was basically good at mathematics, therefore, he could manage to solve the question paper, with little preparations.
Yes, you are right that had if been Social Studies or even Science, he might have been in trouble.
Avoid seeing scary dreams.

@Daljinder What for you are protesting? Personal issue? National issue or international issue?
Yes, those who have good bad in Mathematics, could manage to handle such kind of unexpected situations. Had he been weak in Mathematics, he would have been in soup.

@dpk262006 Yeah I am silently protesting with my avatar.
Mathematics don't need any theory. Social Science on the other hand. Anyways I am glad that he knew his maths. It could have ruined his whole year.

Yeah, the guy was lucky that he could manage to complete his Mathematics preparations, without detailed preparations.
You don't need to jump off the cliff, I am sure in such a situation you would be able to solve some of the questions.
