Do You Move, Swerve, Yield?

My father knew a lot of shortcuts because he'd rather keep driving than be stuck in traffic. That's why when he stopped driving and rode taxis, he would actively direct the taxi driver in changing course. When I'm at the supermarket, I pass through all the aisles. When an aisle is crowded and I need something there, I go to the next, then come back later. There are aisles that I automatically skip, however, like snacks, sweets and softdrinks. Our kitchen has two entryways. You can walk in from the hallway or from the dining room. If someone or something is blocking one entry, I just walk around and enter through the other. It's only a few steps, but others won't. They either stand there so you're forced to stop and move, or hurry up. Or they try to slip behind or beside you.

Indeed, hate that corporate rushed crap. Like why do we do anything if it is going to be like that? Get it done right. Lasts a lifetime. Rushed, more 100's in the pocket but does not make anyone feel good. In a round a bout way, this is how we all live our lives and you are right to call it out. Keep it simple stupid. lol

@hereandthere I hear you, how to beat that down. You know walked to the store the other day and got ran over nearly three times. People all dumb at this point. My frustration at the the last one yelling out , "Come on Man" and the dude had the nerve to yell at me back. Dude, you about took my life. What the hell is wrong with society?

@crossbones27 there are people who think everyone should give way to them, but when they're in the way, everyone else should wait

I do the same, rather than get stuck in one place, I'd look for other ways to get out. The same can be said in how I decide with my life.

I do the same at the supermarket, our kitchen only have one entry door, but we are only two at home, I do not see who could block the entrance.

i check the list that i have in my phone before i line up to pay, then i would realize i forgot something because i had to skip those aisles it would be rare for your to bump into each other or for any room to get crowded

@hereandthere When I have guests (quite often) I make clear that nobody must stay near the kitchen door. I usually send them all downstairs in the dining room with the fireplace.

I am this shortcut person too - whenever possible. I like to think I am efficient with time and productivity - at least in the circumstances you mentioned.

Hmm I think I may not be as easy a swerver as you and your dad seem to be. I would wait first I'm afraid, and then if traffic or people are not moving very fast I would then try another route. haha!

Very nice point of view. I remember a story a man walking along the road but along the way the road was block with so many rocks, what would he do to get there? Would he wait the contractor to remove all the rocks. No, turn right because there is a detour road there. lol. The story is something like this.

some people wait without asking around, so they end up wasting time.

this is the importance of asking and look around and not just standing there till the road is open.

It's not my habit to swerve while driving as this may cause confusion among fellow drivers on the road. I try to follow the rules ... most days. Hehe :) As for traffic problems, I only try an alternate route when I'm the only one in the car (I don't want to cause delay problems, in any case), or the first route is just hopeless and the only way out is to look for another ... way out! :) At the supermarket, I always go through every aisle because I'm always likely to spot a need that isn't in my list. I go through the toiletries section first, then dry goods and then produce.

I would just use my best judgment. If I know for sure that taking short cut would get me to where I want in significantly less time, then I would take it.

I also don't like to be stuck in traffic or an aisle and I will also rather plan a quick route or skip an aisle till I can move freely through it.

I'm like you in that I keep moving. My New York City dwelling son suggested a great app that diverts you away from traffic accidents as soon as they happen. We use it often. We have two entrances to most of the rooms on the first floor of our house, but only make use of them when we have lots of guests. The supermarket I use is only organic, so it's never very crowded. lol

we have to be innovative and think wisely when we meet some traffic, even in our own homes.
