No Kidding?!?!?!??!!!

In a way, I really shouldn't be shocked. After all, thanks to sue-happy people, we have to be told that hot coffee is hot. But still, it struck me as comical...in a very sad sort of way. After seeing the news break of a shooting in Maryland this morning I pulled up a Baltimore TV station and watched the coverage. (I do that for two reasons: one, I don't have cable any longer; and two, and far more significantly, the local stations want to report the news instead of call in a politician who wants to turn everything into a political circus.) They did a fine job, save for one thing. They explained how the suspect had walked into his workplace and shot five people, killing three. He then fled. The news media showed his picture. They gave his name. Then they said, "He should be considered armed and dangerous." Gee, do ya think so????? No kidding?!?!?!??!?!!! A guy walks in and empties a gun in his co-workers and you have to TELL PEOPLE HE'S ARMED???? But, as I said, if they didn't, you know some sue-happy person would sue because they weren't smart enough to realize that a criminal described as a gunman might actually have a gun. Oy. LOL, like Gomer Pyle in The Andy Griffith Show: "Citizen's arrest! Citizen's arrest!"

You're right. Someone would inevitably sue if they didn't say that the suspect is armed and dangerous.

Modern life seems to be filled with those ironies.

You are absolutely right about that. Some people just insist on bringing a knife to a gunfight so they can sue someone for negligence.

Common sense doesn't seem to be so common these days.

I mainly read this because you mentioned 'sue-happy people'. I want to say that I agree with that statement. It is ridiculous that newspeople and others have to state the obvious, but it's also ridiculous how many people think a place should be sued even when you know the fault was your own. To me, that's lying. I fell in a store recently, due to my own clumsiness. I really don't know what happened, but I'm sure that I somehow tripped on my own shoes. I have several shoes in one particular brand, that I love, but that I tend to catch myself before falling while walking around. I'm not sure whether it's due to me needing another knee replacement and I'm not walking correctly or what, but I've also notice other people catching themselves while walking also, and some of them are much younger than I am. So, I'm thinking possibly the shoes are at fault. If I were to sue anyone, I'd sue the shoe company not the store where I fell and where everyone, or at least a few people I've share with think I should sue. Before I'd consider sueing the shoe companies, though, I'd first write or call them and suggest they discontinue one type of design that may be causing the issue. Other manufacturers are also using the same design. I wonder how many people may be falling due to the type of shoes they are wearing.

Now we all know why the late former heel professional wrestler Nick Bockwinkel called fans who hated him "Cretins" and "Humanoids".
