I Just Might Make the Minimum Next Month, and I Split My Chin in a Fall, with After Pics

Today, I just rolled over to 4.0227. It's taken me since the payment from April to make it thus far. That is mostly due to the fact that I sort of stepped away from the site to a degree. I was here at least weekly checking on my notifications, but I went back to work from my knee surgery the end of May and had to catch up with everything else that my time here took a back seat. I fired our last guy about three weeks ago and although we've had an ad online and have had several bites only one person is interested in working for us so far but he has yet to relocate to our area. Because of that, we've not been doing a lot of window jobs. We've done a few, mostly ranch style houses that my gal and I can manage ourselves. She is now in jail for a month and it's only me working. I'm getting older, but I can still do the job, usually. I've been sorer than normal recently because this past Saturday I took a spill inside a grocery store while picking up some cheese for supper. It warranted a trip to ER to get three stitches on my chin which is what you see in the image above. And that brings me to my question. Anyone interested in seeing my 'before' picture? It shows about a one inch gap where my skin split apart after my fall. It was actually a lot smaller than I expected since I was bleeding so much that I thought at first have my face fell off. Rather than having them call an ambulance, I opted to call my daughter who was just getting ready to eat her supper. She came promptly and took me to the ER. I sent her home to eat as they said it would be about an hour before I was seen. For some reason they took me right back and I was numbed and sewn up within twenty minutes. My other daughter called and came right over and the first came shortly thereafter. Considering it wasn't a life and death situation, they took care of me much quicker than I expected. Tomorrow, sometime, I get to go back to have the stitches removed. Not sure when I'm going to fit that in though. I may have to go shortly after the sun rises, TheHorse, in order to beat the rush and still be able to work the jobs I need to finish tomorrow along with visiting my mom. Any questions? ps. I cropped the image so you didn't have to look up my nose which is an odd pose. For whatever reason it looks like my whole face is bruised up or dirty or something, but it's only the red on my chin that is accurate. I didn't break any bones, nor did I break any teeth for a change. And, I'm doing better every day.

Thank you. When going into stores I'll probably begin doing, all the time, what I do when getting more than one thing and that is take a cart with me. That way I'd have something to hang onto if I trip or whatever happened the other day.

Why is the woman who works for you in jail? How did you fall reaching for cheese was the floor wet. I am glad to hear that it isn't as bad as the photo looks. It looks very bruised.

@MarshaMusselman Wow I feel bad for your friend sounds pretty harsh and not understanding on the probation officers part at all. I have worn shoes that due to tread being worn were very slippery on floors so I can understand if the cause was your shoes. At least you aren't blaming the store and trying to sue them like so many others would.

@shaggin Exactly, on the last part, and I don't understand why the probation officer would do that to her either. Especially since her mother is still recovering from surgery and needs help periodically. She only began sleeping upstairs last week. Her granddaughter finally went over there to give her a hand. About time. I think the probation officer is thinking another time in jail might dry her out better, but I don't know that will take care of it enough just yet. Someone told me recently that people need to hit their rock bottom before stopping to look to the drink for solace. I don't know that my friend has hit rock-bottom yet, unless she's tired of the possibility of getting thrown into jail more often than she ever expected. She'll be getting out a couple of weeks early because of good behavior and also because the jail is loaded at present. Even so, she will still have been in this time longer than the first, so maybe it will help her steer clear, I don't know.

I already had the cheese and was on my way to the checkouts. In guessing my shoe was the problem for they've caused me to miss a step before. This was the first time I didn't catch myself. My friend in jail got stopped back in March driving after drinking too much. She's on probation and recently had one drink after her mom had heart surgery, she didn't pass her P test a few days later. Her probation officer thought she needed to spend mote time in jail. She may get out early for good behavior and because the jail is full. In the meantime I may have found two people to help.

Boy, would that have been a bigger pain if your teeth had been broken.

I've already broke them twice. The first time I broke my two front teeth about twelve years ago. At that time or shortly thereafter I had my dentist put in two crowns. Then last November I fainted at work due to a medical item that was put on me and I think it was wrapped too tight. That fall chipped both of my two front, crowned teeth. I really don't want to shell out five hundred dollars which would be my portion to replace them so I've had them filed down instead so I don't accidentally bit my tongue. Good thing I thought to do that too, or the inside of my mouth may have needed stitches too. One day I'll get them replaced, but I may wait another year or two first.

@AmbiePam A little maybe. We've all been through ringers of different types. I'm actually more sore from my latest fall than when I fainted. Then it was only my chipped teeth, or should I say crowns and I hurt my hand a bit when trying to stop my fall. Before I actually fainted I had enough presence of mind to realize my hand was bending backward incorrectly and I let go of the metal I was using to try to break my fall. The other day though, I seemed to have bruised my legs a bit, my arms and my jaw. Nothing looks bruised other than my chin, but each day areas hurt less and less. One of these days I'll be back to normal again.

Your wife is in jail? Oh dear. Facial injuries are the worst as the face always bleeds so much worse than anywhere else. I am glad you could get fixed up quickly. A similar injury saw me in the hospital for about 10 hours ending with the maxillo guy saying to a very inefficient doctor who had no clue what he was doing. (Another doctor told him off and it was clear a supervisor was finally on the scene to check what he was doing,) "Stop talking to me about other patients I am TRYING TO SEW THIS LADY'S FACE UP!" He honestly was.

Lol, on me having a wife, Freya. It's my fellow-window cleaning lady, a friend of mine that is in jail. I'm the wife in my marriage and I'm married to a guy. It's us in my avatar. Your situation doesn't sound like too much fun at all. Edited to add: ten hours? Were you waiting for an opening during a portion of that time?

It wasn't quite as bad as this image seems to show and it's healing up pretty quickly too. Most of the red bruising has disappeared and it looks like the line from the stitches will be gone too also.

@BelleStarr It won't be two weeks until this coming Saturday and everything is already healed up. There's a small line, but I have to raise my chin for anyone to see it. I'm going to try to remember to massage the area for there's now a bump under the skin which may be scar tissue.

Thanks, Peachy. I was going to tell you the last time we interacted that I discovered recently that the grocery bags we use to load people groceries are made in your country. I was quite surprised to discover that out.

@peachpurple they are plastic bags which do get recycled.

@MarshaMusselman oh really? Made from Malaysia? That is good. I didn't know that Malaysia made Grover bags... paper bags? or recycle bags?

Glad you did not get any other injuries. How on earth did you fall? Was it the grocery store's fault or your own?

It was definitely my own fault in some way. I blamed my shoes originally because I catch myself when walking quite a bit and do a little step thing to stay up. This time, though, I didn't notice my feet catching in any way. I'm beginning to think something else happened to my foot like maybe it lost feeling while I was walking or something. I'm going to get it checked out on Monday and ask if they have any ideas.

I was pleasantly surprised to get treated so quickly. It allowed me time to finish making the supper I planned out for that day and then get some sleep for a bit as I worked the midnight shift one final time that night. There would have been no one else that could cover it for me, so it was a good thing I didn't break any bones or be worse off than I was already,

Yikes that looks nasty and you're lucky you didn't break something. How the heck did you fall in the grocery store? was the floor wet?

No. I'm getting my foot checked out with my vascular surgeon on Monday, I think that may have been the cause. I thought I tripped on my shoes as I do that quite a bit, but not to the point of falling. It wasn't the store's fault at all. The floors were clear of debris and water. There's a possibility my foot went numb without warning or me noticing. I'll be asking questions when I see the professional on Mond.

What caused the fall? Have the grocery store attorney called you?

I caused the fall. Something has to be deliberate before I'd ever consider calling an attorney. Ever. I've been ministering to a sore on my foot that is a lot better than it was but still giving me issues. There's a possibility that was the reason for my fall. I believe that God allowed it to happen for a reason but it wasn't until last night when my whole foot was burning that I realized maybe I need to quit dancing around the issue and go to see my vascular guy. He wrapped my foot with a unna boot last year about this time for a different lesion. If I'm the reason for a fall, there is no honest way that I can expect a store to pay for my stupidity of not taking care of this beforehand.
