Do you think that christianity has been of benefit to the world or has it created more bad than good?

I think the people to attempt to take every word in the bible serious are doing more harm than good. They go out of there way to chastise everyone else for every little thing, instead of worrying about more important issues.

I think Christianity is more stronger today then ever. But it is religions that have created more bad then good. God want's us to be christians, not religious. He want's us to worship him, not our religions. Every religion thinks there right and others are wrong. I think most religions that consider there selves christian have the same principle of God and the ultimate goal to join him, in the Kingdom of God. But ALL of them make up ther own stuff as they go, and that's not christianity, which makes them all wrong to some point.

You make a good point there. The bible states "Thou shalt NOT worship false idols" but as soon as people have a concept in their minds, that IS a false concept, as it's not possible to have an idea of god -- the infinite is beyond conceptualisation. It's our hearts that show us the way to go and not our minds. I wouldn't want to say what god does or doesn't want but I suspect she/he doesn't care too much about the trappings, ie whether we have religion or not, as long as we try to be pure in heart. Thanx 4 the response,:)

Thanks mate, Samuel Johnson said the road to hell was paved with good intentions. The main problem seems to be that anyone can say they belong to a particular religion then use that to further their own agenda. I always thought it strange that before going into battle christian states or countries used a priest to bless the troops, thus sanctifing their actions.( I know other religions do this too.) I always thought the message was love your enemy and turn the other cheek, ;) :)

I dont think the problem is the religion but the people who practice it and use it to their own evil purposes. Christianity as written to be practiced is about love. People have used their power in leadership to take us in the name of religion down many evil paths. this is true of all the major religions.

Goodluck :) Fortunately we have freedom of choice which means if you want to do something and believe in it -- then you can go for it. One of my main criticisms is that it tends to avoid the issue of accountability ie I am responsible for my own sins and I don't need someone else to die for them. So inspite of them, when I die, the feather will weigh heavy. Thanx.

It is probably the ONLY thing that has ever had or will ever have any benefit for us whatsoever.

I'm afraid I can't agree to that, there have been many systems to self-discovery which have been of benefit.

christ today - Christ is for alland not for christians only.He is gift of the father.
I must say Christ is born for all and he is the savior of the world.Whoever accept this are christians.Christanity is not a style of life as today it is the path to salvation.Believe in christ you will be saved. In true christanity there is no fighting. It is love and gorgivess.Forgive the sins of others then you will be forgiven.Do to others what you think others has to do to you. These are the two basic principles of christanity.Christ never fought. He prayed Father forgive them as they do not know what they are doing.Christ always interceed with father so that we may reign in love and peace. In this sense christanity is a boom and is a path to salvation.

Actually he had a rather nasty temper A) When he spat the dummy in the temple and cast out the money lenders. B) Don't forget the fig tree incident when he, with malice and forethought, laid waste to a living being coz it didn't provide him with the figs he wanted. I like the idea that christianity is a boom. :D
