Could you just look at the shoes?

Hmmm, I did promise a friend here that I'd show a picture of my Mommy's dress. So here it is. Promise kept. The image does not do justice to the dress, though. I prodded my daughter to take a snap of me at the end of the program. This was hurried and I was not able to button the cardigan-blouse, properly. But there's my shoes. Ha ha. The oath taking of the new physicians went all right. Our Philippine International Convention Center's Plenary Hall needs refurbishing.

Thank you, louievill. It was a very comfortable dress. Except for the shoes, the brooch and the earrings were also my Mommy's. Ha ha My new doctor of a daughter is haggard these days. Duty has given her the eye bugs. The oath taking was a brief moment of rest. Tomorrow, she gets back to duty.

Thank you very much, Parsie. The Hall was abuzz with families taking groupies, and physicians their mandatory selfies. One family has taken several shots of just one angle. I cannot understand why that has to be done. If it was back in my youth, I would have captured one shot and picture would be for album keepsakes. Film rolls were expensive then. Thirty-six shots was all I had to capture an event. Ha ha Now, he cellphones can multiply a single shot exponentially, in a second ot two. Wow.

@hereandthere Oh, I see. Perhaps you love theater and music. Do you frequent the area? My daughter was an OJT at the PICC for her college elective. We met one of her co-workers during the oath taking. He was helping as an usher. But of course we did not ask for assistance. We looked for our own seats.

Thank you, hereandthere. Please tell more about how you grew up with those structures. Do you live near the area? Or you work there? I noticed you didn't include the Film Center. Parking is full. Hotel parking fee is like gold. Good thing I got a space in front of the PICC.

You look great! And it was one good shot, it doesn't look like the Hall needs refurbishing from that angle.

Why, thank you, Sabrina. I did think twice about uploading the image. Against my better Judgment, I did. My daughters would reprimand me. Yet, I always encourage transparency in anything. That is how we disseminate goodness and courage back. So. there's the dress. Letran Knight asked for this. The carpet has seen better days. And the Plenary Hall seats are too uncomfortable. We Filipinos could fit in the seats but what about the huge-bodied, the tall people? We could barely move our legs. We even had to stand up if anyone needs to get out. Sigh. Yet, in fairness to the maintenance personnel, the premises are clean and neat. The lily pond along the corridor has a big star-shaped lily decor.

@eileenleyva I understand that, although every post here is public, myLot is a good and peaceful community, so I think you did what was right to do. I see, they're doing their best to take care of the place but they need more. Carpets require a lot of maintenance, then I guess you're lucky to have seats, at least. And the corridor also has a lily pond, whoa!

For that comment, you have just become my current best friend. Jabo, thank you very much. I have shied away from picture taking. The selfie and groupie that has taken the generation of today is mind-boggling. It has become an illness, something like a psychological disorder called narcissism. I seldom get my picture taken. I had to gather the bravado to post that image, just to keep a promise. Didn't expect a heartwarming comment. I love you just for that.

@jaboUK People are not so generous with compliments. Seldom do they offer kind words to uplift another. You were spontaneous. Candid. A natural. Ha ha. You readily give what is in your mind. That reflects the goodness in your heart. I am blessed to know you, even if only in this virtual way of making friends. Yes, we Filipinos have been criticized for our being hospitable to a fault. We spend our last centavo to feed a guest, sleep on the mat to make a visitor comfortable. My home is your home. The thing is, we love to do that. I, my self, would go the length to make a guest feel at home.

Thanks, Joan. I did try to look good. I even put on some powder and lipstick. I also wore a brooch. Ha ha. It was an important event for me. And there were so many beautiful female doctors. The male doctors were dashing.in their suits.
