Gambling

I was just wondering how gambling has taken effect on the youth in our society. More and more teenagers have taken gambling as a source of earning and this has brought an effect where they do not want to look for jobs or work for the money. Some teenagers have gone to the extent of taking their school fee to gambling in the belief that it will bring more money. Teenagers are dropping out of school and spending most of their time in gambling halls. Recently I have seen security officers ensuring owners of electronic gambling machines removed urgently. We have seen some who have gambled in sport lost and even committed suicide after loosing. Do you have the same problems in your areas and how can this situation be handled.

Yes, gambling is a world problem. The lure of easy money is strong. Governments themselves promote it as they make money from it. We need to educate our children and hope that they listen or they will learn the hard way of how devastating gambling can be. The problem will not disappear from this world.

Here the gambling is illegal. Although some people still gamble, but at least the population can't be a lot. Today it seems that teenagers are not interested in gambling. They are addicted to computer or mobile games much more.

I'm sorry that is such a problem in your country. To my knowledge it isn't that bad here. Teens are into video games.

@nangayo Gambling is considered a sin, though I don't think it says that in the Bible. I would need to look for it.

@just4him It does not say it directly. It just discourages quick money, money that one gets without working for it.

It is very high that even students are dropping out of school because of it. Instead of the youth looking for jobs they are going for gambling. I think God does not encourage gambling he says work get your money from working.

What are the young folk betting on? I don't think we really have this problem in Australia. Although there is unemployment, many young people do have jobs. I'm sure it is illegal for them to gamble.

Seems like gambling is already part of our traditions and cultures. It has been part of our lives. Even in our place, gambling is really in prevalence. Even in basketball tournament, people are gambling each other who will win the game.

We donĀ“t have problems with gambling here. Most problems here are due to vandalism and others. Some rich people practice gambling. I have seen most teenagers playing videogames and practicing all kinds of related computer games

when some childredn beggars ask money in the church, we don't give them, because after a few minutes, they are already behind a car playing the "heads or tails". this is already gambling.
