Online radio stations

I would like to enlist your help, MyLot! Some number of years ago, possibly 8-10 years ago - I was into online radio. There was this webpage I would go to. It wasn't a fancy site. It just had a big list of all of these online radio stations, organized by type of music. And there were hundreds, possibly thousands. I believe they were online only. Not available on an actual radio.
So - you would click the link you wanted that looked something like this:
807.3 - Best of the 80's
and it would take you to another plain looking webpage where you could click the "play" symbol on a player and listen to the station.
Most often I would listen to 80's rock. And I found one station that I really enjoyed. Played a great mix of music and the dj - he had this awesome British/Australian - couldn't tell which- accent going on mixed with a deep voice. Drool.
Anyway I have long since forgotten the website, the station name, everything to do with where I found it.
Maybe online radio stations have gone the way of the floppy disk, but does anyone know what I'm talking about?

That's really interesting. I've never heard of such a site. I mean, I knew online radio stations existed, but I didn't know there was a site dedicated to listing them all. That would have been very helpful to anyone looking for a particular online radio station.

About 15 years ago, my job allowed online access and I found a number of radio stations that I listened to. Even checked out some foreign ones. I found a good 80s one. But that privilege went away and now I just turn on a real radio though I do listen to many You Tube tunes.

Ah unfortunate that privilege went away. You may have been more productive listening to music.

I did not ever access any online radio station through my computer. However, I have a Nokia E-5 mobile phone, which has the facility to listen to online radio stations world wide.

@FayeHazel Yes, the facility to listen to different online radio stations was available only in Nokia E-5. Thereafter I bought many devices but none had this kind of facility.

That phone actually sounds really cool! I know I like to keep my old phones sometimes they have cool apps that don't run on the new ones

@dpk262006 I know, it can be disappointing - one assumes that the features you like in 1 phone will be bigger and better in the next, newer one. But sometimes they discontinue the things we like. Maybe there is a downloadable app out there?

@FayeHazel - Spinner was pretty much straight radio. Yahoo was very much like Pandora, where you had to build your station.

@teamfreak16 Spinner sounds cool. I struggle with stuff like Pandora though, it's like, I like so many kinds of music, I never know to make 1 station with all the stuff I like or many stations that have only a few influences that are similar. I over think things too much

There are many free online sources you can use to listen to music. Two I currently use are Spotify and I Heart Radio.
Both provide radio stations you can play. You can even use the search feature type in a band name and they provide similar music they call artist's radio. I have friends that also use Pandora. I even tried a Russian website that had free music. So there are options out there.

I am not familiar with that radio station. However, I know that you can listen to a 94.7 which is a South African radio station online.

Oh that's an interesting idea. I know some of the local radio stations let you listen online, I never thought to listen to out of region stations, but what a fun idea!
