A Most Pleasant Surprise!

Music played in the supermarket is hit or miss at best. You are either like it or you don't. On Wednesday, we went shopping at King Soopers (a Kroger company.) This particular store has a great music selection. Why, you ask? I heard, while walking up and down the aisles, one of my favorite bands: goth legends The Sisters of Mercy. I don't know about you, but I've never heard anything even close to goth while shopping. It was a pleasant surprise. Guess what my favorite supermarket is now. I've linked a video for the song that played. Enjoy!

I saw a meme on FB that said something to the effect that you know you're old when you like the music the supermarket plays. Mine usually plays 50s and 60s hits and I find that I enjoy them. Last week, though, I found myself singing along to Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time.

I saw Cyndi Lauper a few years ago. Naturally, she did "Time After Time." It was great.

I think our supermarket must play the latest in music as I often hear the shelf-fillers humming along.

I've been in a few of those supermarkets. And yes, it's almost a given that at least one person is going to be humming along.

@teamfreak16 They often play 80s stuff at one of my favorite thrift shops . . . I think others must like it too because I hear so many people singing to what's playing overhead!

Was it old school country or modern "country?"

@teamfreak16 New, the kind I don`t like so good. I like the good old, old ones like Willie and Cash.

@teamfreak16 Scott, the one I go to doesn't. It would be nice if it did. I remember when elevators used to play muzak.

I know, it's so cool when you hear a song in a store that you NEVER expect to hear! Earlier this week I was in a store and heard T Rex's "Children of the Revolution"!!!

Reminded me of this song, with the word "stores" or "shops" instead of "girls"...

Isn't management going to object to you setting up camp in aisle 3?

It's a pretty good idea I think. Usually musicians and rock bands play music in supermarkets when it's some holiday, like Valentine's day. So people like to listen and musicians are glad to become known with their songs.

Yes. Some supermarkets play better music than others.
