Wednesday Legs?

Life is funny! I was at the library when a guy I used to go to school with spotted me perusing through a row of possible gems  (a good book is like a gem to me) . He non to quietly asked with great astonishment "Wednesday legs?" "Is that you?" I could have thrown him with a book!  Why "Wednesday legs?" Well, I was really skinny, up until I turned 30, and so through my high school years the guys loved to say I had "Wednesday legs" "When's they going to break legs" because they were so skinny they might snap! So, there I am at the library and he is gawking at me, he then follows that greeting with "wow, someone has certainly filled out!" I could have thrown him with a book, again! He then hinted I might have filled out a bit too much. Why oh why didn't I throw him with a book!? Instead I said that yes it was me and yes, I had indeed filled out. I then went on to tell him that I noticed he had filled out quite a bit too, really quite a bit and that there seemed to be a little less hair on his head! Then I wished him a good day while he was still gawking! Can you believe? According to him I was first too skinny, now I am too curvy! Isn't life funny!  Grrr!

I tend to find that the people who have, shall we say, deteriorated the most always seem to feel the need to point out the perceived physical failings of others as they get older. Needless to say I never feel the need!!

@WorDazza . Och, life has been same old, same old. No knight in tarnished armour, no winning the lottery, no mad adventure! But I did go for cocktails a week back, yes I had me some lovely cocktails, and I could use about 10 of them today! How's life been treating you?

One of my favorite comebacks to someone who called me fat is "I may be fat, but your ugly and I can diet."

@bluesa some people never change. I know a few like that. Thankfully I don't encounter them too often.

Thank you, I had to keep in mind I was in a public place. But I definitely had to get a few complimentary words in too.

"Wednesday Legs" - that's different - I heard about "stick" leg or "deep fine leg" (a cricketing term which you might know)

@Kandae11 , yes, they were awesome! Chris Gayle is still so impressive though and the West Indies have some amazing young talent at the moment. I also miss Jaques Kallis and Graeme Smith. :)

Lol oh boy this made me laugh! I’m not sure why skinny legs would be called “Wednesday legs” that term I don’t think I’ve ever heard before.

The "Wednesday " is for "When's they" as in when's they going to break. Because my legs were apparently too skinny. It is amazing the guy still remembered that!

@moffittjc Yes, he is quite lucky that he left the library in one piece! And that I know I am actually built right for my height, otherwise he might have left the library in a world of pain

For "when's they" as in "when's they going to break" Lol, I had to give him some lovely compliments too! The book is "Executive Orders" from "Tom Clancy"

Good books are gems indeed! :-) I've never heard that. So is that Wednesday legs thing more a compliment or more an insult? Some people are way too free with their comments. You're too skinny, now you're too thick. Nah! You are always just right! No wrong way to have a body as long as you are healthy

Oh, "Wednesday legs" is an insult, it is for "when's they" as in saying the person's legs are so skinny they might snap, they are asking "when's they going to break?" Yes he was much too free! So true. As long as a person is healthy there is no too this or too that.
