Summer is over, no more frolicking in the sun - but where are the mylotters? Two days ago I noticed that it took a full thirty minutes before a new post appeared on the Recent Discussions list.
With just 18 days remaining in the Atlantic hurricane season, I am giving thanks that my island was untroubled by the devastating storms this year. Our last serious hit occurred in 2012 when hurricane Sandy passed through. However , this Christmas I will be thinking of and praying for those who suffered through Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria. Many lost homes, personal possessions and family members. Some will be facing a very dark Christmas.
This morning around 4.45 a.m. I was lying in bed doing my stretches when I heard a single gunshot, followed 2 seconds later by 5 in rapid succession - needless to say, I got out of bed in a hurry. I should point out that no hunting takes place in this area.

@Kandae11 , When I hear gunshots, I wait a while at least until sunrise. I go out and make sure the car and the house haven't been hit, but then again, the roof may have leaks from fallen bullets as a neighbor who used to run his own roofing business, came across bullets embedded into rooftops quite regularly in his years as a roofing contractor.

@lookatdesktop Sounds like a war zone. No - it's not that bad here yet, this is the second time in about seven months.

I hope no one was hurt or killed. It will be a dark Christmas for a lot of people this year. I know I haven't been here a lot this month, but I'm writing the NaNoWriMo 50K challenge. I hope there won't be anymore hurricanes this year.

Oh no, that is very unsettling! Keep safe. Yes, many suffered by the hand of Mother nature this year. I am trying to be around more, but I am struggling to keep up here. Not sure why life seems busier for everyone lately @Kandae11 . Hopefully things settle a bit soon.

Did you find out who got killed? The Mayor? The chief of the island? A crime of passion? (perhaps just two drunks trying to shoot each other to see who could get to the emergency first! )
