P eople here vary a lot age wise as iots not really an old age retirement but an all ages retrement so some are iare il n their tyhirties and fortiles One who stands out Is nJesse who is about my sons age He is really one iof a kiond caring and helpful, he is quucj to hyelp some one here and lis always up beat. I am concerned now for the middle aged one who has dialysis every so often I c alled gthe gretter He has not bee in the hall for almost a week so guyess he has bee h iospoitaklaized for some reasom He is another about my sons age who is kindly and caring too' always with a big smile and a nod,Tese are the people that I remember out of a lot of people wjo are really ukniw to m e I was surpriosed to ave tow of te care givers wish me a hbirthday one yesterday, one today..Tat was really nice. So many times being here feels lole a priviledged prillson of sorts where we can goout for walks orto tedoctor or wat note but ust sigj oit and sign back in gain. Its not a place where I had ever planed ;to move in to o but it was ann emergency. When ou get evicted because y ou lost a job ad become broke, you o loge matter to the popele wo thought you oneoit hteir kind a day before. Once you become homeleess you are looed a indeed as pond scum, addicts or druks or crooks it docent come to their minds that tat he yyesterday yoiu wer the ext dooir iddle class neuggbir now youare lower than dirt., , WE are really prettysnoibbish about those on the stree tnever dawns on us tat we are one ay check away frombecoming homeless lf we g etfired and cannio tpoay rent or the house payment, 'I am not tal king about those who are drug addctsort alcojolcs and arestreets. I am talking abou tgood decet jard wo roing mem womem ad their kdswho find themselves broke, out of aob amd onte stret.tey iihstgabtkiyget scorned, seered at, belittled wju all they did w as get laid off te j ob. Rin out of money and were evicted. Sholuld not we e mdeavor to do more to elp tose peopl wjo were yesterday neighbors? I realize this g ets met butmost are jst scu as IL have writte before and been old mo tjey are a;llmost hu s tthird r ate ciltizesI guess we do iot'like toihear that there are decent people whola nd as jomeless. We need to,male a distinction between the rilff raff and tose who were ibnce b our neighboirss but lost their jobs and were evic ted, made homelkess ,//we beed tgo help them to get back on tgheilr 'feet not kick them down I rest mycase a]s it does niot do much to try o make Amercans ubderstand all homeless are not pond scum and thus helpo them, Ibbe origibal post and graphic b y P GHatlety copyrighted 2017 i

Many homeless became homeless due to circumstances. Some work but they have not enough money to make a living and pay a rent. Life is hard.

@Hatley It's a shame what happens, rich people are helped and those who work do not even have enough to have a place where to live.

I agree and that some homeless are just a victim of circumstances

So true and many people continue to take life for granted. Unfortunately most people never stop and think about things until something happens.

Many people are about three paychecks from homelessness, we can see on here that it is not necessarily through their own fault that people end up in hardship. I am glad you have a place to go even if it is a privileged prison. I understand how random people, like Jessie and your greeter can find a place in our hearts.

I'm sorry for the way you found yourself in a retirement home. I know what it's like to lose your job and lose your home.

I think it is great that you are in a place that has all ages. I think it would be rather depressing to live with only other seniors around and stuck there most of the time. A few younger ones thrown in would be nice.

I like that various ages live together. A dear friend of mine was on dialysis. I knew that she was ill of course but when the end suddenly came, it was hard to bear.
