Yesterday was a scary day first thing in the morning. The alarm for my husband did not go off and he was late for work. He has only been working there since the 6th of November so he is a very new employee. Fortunately, it all worked out. He was not fired. He did receive 3/4 of a point. I told him to call in and let them know he was running late but he was frustrated and did not do that. For that frustration, he received 1/2 of a point. He got the other 1/4 of a point for being late. His boss did tell him that this does not need to happen again but he did cut him some slack. Thank you, everyone, for your positive thoughts and prayers.

So glad that he didn't get fired, most employers don't fire people for one late occassion but always better not to test them. Maybe buy an alarm clock or a clock radio.

@BelleStarr We have 3 alarms set now. So far so good. Pretty soon he will be starting a new shift. He will be getting to work at 7 pm instead of 6 am.

@Shellyann36 That is a shift that doesn't require an alarm.

you are certainly welcome and I hope you kept the advice for at least 2 alarms. we don't want that again ever. I thought you was going to have a heart attack. I am so glad things turned out well for your little family.

I don't understand the points system but I'm glad he got a second chance to prove himself. When I have something really important I put 3 alarms just in case something goes wrong with any of them.

@Madshadi the points system is in place as a punishment for being late or not coming to work. After so many points the company can fire the employee without being sued by the employee for it.

I'm glad it worked out in his favor. I'd rather lose a point than a job.

I am glad he was not fired. How does this thing of points work?

@LadyDuck they point system gives out x amount of points or % of points for various offenses at work. Being late, no call, no show, etc. After so many points they can opt to write the employee up and give them a warning or if the problems are bad enough, they can fire him. He will not be getting any more points!

@cahaya1983 Thank you. The point system is in place for tardies or missed work or other bad things that happen. After he has accrued so many points he can be given a written warning or even fired if the offenses are bad enough.

That was real bad luck to your husband re: that alarm! Some alarms do that. My daughter set 5 alarms in her room for that same reason, just to make sure!

As he's new to the job he probably hasn't got into the routine yet. He'll get used to it and probably wake up automatically when he needs to.

@jaboUK he sleeps like a log. I am the one who wakes up to the alarms. He starts a new schedule next week and we do not have to worry about him getting up very early. He will have to be to work at 7 pm.
