As I mentioned in a previous post, I have the free HBO and Cinemax preview weekend. Last night, I saw a movie I have been wanting to see since it came out..Hidden Figures about the black female geniuses employed by NASA in the early days of the space program. It was fascinating even more so, because it took place in Virginia, my state. NASA was apparently based in Hampton before it moved to Texas. In fact, John Glenn would only agree to do his space launch and earth re entry after the IBM computer's figures were manually checked by one of the women. Amazing story and movie!

My mom and I absikytey loved that movie. And they WERE "hidden figures." I'm glad finally they got some recognition. I've been afraid of math for years, let alone physics!

I am glad some people recognized their talents and abilities..although of course they had to be excellent and work doubly hard to be acknowledged. Everything was still segregated then too.

@snowy22315 Yes and a lot of people forget that, or are too young to remember it.

@CinnamonGrl I lived in the North and would have been too young to remember anyway..It seems so odd to see it in a movie or read about it in a book.

Sadly, most of us don't know as much as we should about black history.

Wasn't it a magical film? And so nice that the women got the recognition they deserved.

Hidden Figures received numerous Oscar nominations last year.
