Yesterday (Saturday) we had intended to go to Yallingup to listen to a singer/guitarist who is coming here in March. However when we tried to book into a caravan park, they wanted $40 for a site. This was without power and was more than was stated on their website. This seemed way too much simply for a little piece of land on which to park our caravan so we changed our mind and drove about 40 minutes to Glen Mervyn, a lake where we were able to camp for free. It is quite a large lake with enough water for people to water- or jet-ski. Others were paddling their canoes or swimming.
We found a quiet spot to camp and were soon set up. The photo shows the view across the lake from our campsite. I’m glad we were no closer to those campers. As it was we were able to enjoy the music they were playing. They also water-skiied until well after dark.
It was very pleasant parked on the side of the lake. On the way back we stopped off at Frog Hollow so I’ll write about that soon.

A lovely spot and I like the mirror effect on the water.

sounds a great trip - you found a better, cheaper place to camp too

Especially when the area is so pleasant. The Bibbulman Track (1000 km walking trail) goes over the weir wall there too. That's the trail our friend walked and which I've written about - which doesn't mean you remember it of course. The Munda Biddi is a similar trail for bike-riders but I don't think it goes over the lake.

It is a great place to park on and looks so secluded and beautiful. The caravan park wanted to seize the opportunity to rip you off!

They didn't really spoil things and we can't expect to always camp where there is nobody, Their choice of music could have been much worse! We went to bed about 10 I guess and Vince went straight to sleep but the V8 of the power-boat went on for ages after that. That was a bit intrusive. I was just hoping the driver hadn't been drinking but they were all at it (skiing that is ) next morning so evidently nobody drownded.

Beautiful scenery! Canoeing on the lake would be enjoyable. I've also done some kayaking before. Lots of fun exploring the coastline. Looks like a wonderful camping spot Judy

It's a very popular place. They have now designated an area beyond which power boats can't go as there were a few issues between power boats and oar power. Vince wanted to take his model yacht but he couldn't get it going in time.
