Ten Bubblegum Songs: Little Willy (#1)

It's time to kick this bubblegum stuff to the curb! I know a lot of you are saying "good riddance," too! I'm closing out with a song that I see on most lists of bubblegum songs, even though I didn't really think it was "bubblegum" back then. I can see the argument that it would fit the definition, though. Here's the best bubblegum song ever. #1: Little Willy - The Sweet In light of the "sexual harassment du jour claims" I guess I should say I'm not insulting or insinuating anything, just quoting a song title! Back before everyone attacked and it turned into a ballroom blitz, Sweet had "the" in their name and a hit with this song. Yes, it's hardly "bubblegum" in the same vein as many of the songs I've used in this countdown (or the stuff that would follow, like the DeFranco City Leif Garrett Roller Brothers [weren't they all the same band?]). T. Rex had that problem then, too: some called them glam, some called them teenybopper. Whatever. I'm not the least bit ashamed of liking this song. It's a killer. Thanks for reading. I've actually never heard this one. Which is surprising, since I am a sucker for bubblegum music from the '70s!
