The children's party in the park

I really do not know what to think. My grandson went to a party and I took him. It was in a park. The parents had fixed a green tarpaulin between trees by a little bit of wood with a stream. On arrival, every kid made an arrow and they found sticks for bows and spent the time shooting at each other. They could also catch some tiny fish. One child fell in the stream. Nobody got injured from the sticks. Parents were offered Beer, lager or chocolate milk. I got water. The kids got pizza, crisps and birthday cake and chocolate milk. It is November, it was raining, it was freezing and there was only logs to sit on. Oh and the toilets in the park were closed.......It got dark. I am still trying to make up my mind as to whether this was, brave, odd or a great and unusual idea. However, I was chilled to the marrow while my grandson had a great time....It was nice not to have the usual party bag. The kids got a biscuit making set instead and we had fun making biscuits the next day. Your reaction if you took a kid to a party like this would be?

Brilliant! That sounds like such good old-fashioned fun! Children should be out in all weathers. Shame the toilets weren't open though!

I suspect everyone, including the parents who gave the party, thought the cafe and loos would be open.

I would probably be surprised at first but as long as I know nothing is dangerous (a bit worried about the arrow shooting thing!) and the kids are having fun then I guess it's not that bad.

I would have a hard time with no toilets. Also kids shooting arrows at each other is a big danger as they could get one in the eye.

That was my thought. The kids managed not to.

A party in a park is a great idea during spring and summer but November no. Lucky it all worked out well but the children could get colds and coughs and the one who fell in the stream could get sick. No what an odd idea. Well glad your grandson had a great time.

I'm not sure what I'd think. No toilets and so cold is a bit of a worry but I guess if the kids had fun....

Brilliant! But perhaps they should have warned the parents to wear warm clothes.
