What do we want to read?

I have read some posts lately about not getting enough responses and thus not earning enough. Some of us count with the money we earn here to pay bills or even for a special little luxury. But we must know that we can only write and hope for the best as an audience for our posts. I remember once that I started to write about the true story of a woman who had lost all she had in the big Valdivia earthquake (the biggest ever recorded 9.5 Richter). I was going to write small posts, maybe 3 or four, to tell about her life. But the first post was read maybe by 2 or 3 mylotters so I never wrote the rest. It was not my friend´s here fault. Maybe I did not write it well, maybe the title was not appealing. Who knows! I prefer to read optimistic posts. Today the post about the party for seniors made my day. What do you want to read?

I like posts about movies, TV, travel, sports but it all depends on what catches my fancy. It's best to write what you feel rather than worry about what will get responses.

I think so too. But some people are very much worried about the responses as they know that a response is a bit of a cent more

@JohnRoberts That is exactly what I do. I will write whatever comes to mind. Sometimes something someone wrote might set off something in my mind but usually things come to me everyday and I have to make a note of it if I am not at home.

@marguicha That is really silly as we know we are not going to get rich in money here but I like getting rich with the friends I make.

I think it depends on who you have following you and how many, a catchy title and to not write many posts each day. I would love to read the story if you could post the link here.

@marguicha I'll try doing a search for the earthquakes name that might bring it up.

@marguicha I searched for Valdivia and biggest earthquake and got no results at all. I hate how the search works here.

I often go through the list of new posts by the people whom I follow here. Your post about that lady who lost everything, can you write the follow up one, with a link to the first one? (I can only come here when I have the time, or when the internet behaves.)

I also like optimistic posts and ones that actually inspire discussion. I think you should continue with your story just for your own sake. It does seem like folks shy away from reading longer posts

I don´t even know where I left it anymore. But maybe now that I have received so much attention with my post about earthquakes, I should start with Maria´s story again.

@marguicha I think that is one of the best things about this site. I have learned a lot and I think that it is so cool for someone my age learning about new things.

I don't like really short posts. I know it's not supposed to be a writing site but posts of only three or four lines don't attract me. There seems no way of working out what discussions will do well and what won't. I can get excited about a discussion I've put up and hardly anyone seems to like it while others that I don't think will do well get lots of interaction.

Sometimes short posts invite people to ask more. I just wrote an answer to a friend who asked what had happened to the person I knew who survived the Valdivia earthquake here.

@marguicha Something like that is acceptable but some I think are too short and sound like they've been thought up in the hope of someone responding.

@JudyEv It is really hard to judge what will or will not get a lot of activity. Some days I have lots of reactions and other times not much at all. I think it all depends who is on here at the time.

My favorite posts to read are about daily life, and experiences. Hate politics and religious ones, or ones about blocking someone when really that's nothing anyone cares for.

Figuring out the formula for a post can be brain twister. It all depends on how readers are feeling that day. I read whatever catches my attention. When you respond you tend to get responses back. Might be a good idea to keep sending responses to someone about a topic until they get tired of responding. Ask them a question. They usually respond back.
