Here is another meal time post, that some hate

I know some people find the posts about food boring. I know others love them, so here is my contribution for this evening. You may remember that I made up a lot of chili. It is good, but tiresome after a while. I have some rice on hand that is already cooked. I mixed it into chili then stuffed a bell pepper half for each of us for supper. Once it was cooked tender we topped it with cheese. All else that was needed was fruit and yogurt for dessert. I just started on a pretty strong antibiotic today. One healthy thing to do when taking antibiotics is to eat lots of yogurt. Plus it is just really good. I feel satisfied with my meal and plan to be here just a little bit more.

I may freeze some of the chili. I have it packed into containers to carry in lunch boxes.

I love my own cooking, most of the time. Hubby is a good cook as well. There is some ham salad in the fridge calling my name.

I like yogurt and now eat the processed store bought kind but wish I had some of the culture that some friends from Finland gave me at one time. By adding a little milk and letting it sit on the counter for a while we could make my own. Chili or anything hot has my tummy reacting (it says I need some tums) but I don't mind a good feed of beans now and then. I only find posts on food boring if they are like recipe lists without much ability to have a discussion in. But I need to add at the end of this comment is what really attracted my attention to your post was the title. The last part actually makes me sick but you know what, it is true. People do hate and they are able to express that too. Aside from that one very small part this post was a good read.

I have heard of the Finlander yogurt, but do not remember what it is called. I know of a store that sells Scandinavian items, maybe I could find some there. Hate perhaps is too strong a word, but others have used it to describe how they feel about meal posts and to say that they are not really discussions. I make my own yogurt, by scalding milk and adding some powdered milk and a plain commercial Greek yogurt. I pour it into canning jars, and I have put them in the crockpot, or a dehydrator, but my favorite is to put them into a "cooler chest" that is insulated and put hot water in. It becomes a nice yogurt.

@Bluedoll I buy frozen fruit, both individual kinds and mixed kinds. I then can just thaw and eat them or blend them up with the yogurt. Frozen is said to be better than fresh because it is processed locally and at the peak of freshness. There is little or no waste and it does not cost too much. No added sugar in the ones I buy.

@GardenGerty I keep buying these little containers. I like them and they are made to eat on the go too contain a little fruit. I really can't like plain yogurt that much because every time I buy it in a larger container on sale end up mixing in something like strawberry jam. We really shouldn't worry too much about what others write about what others should write. It has been a source of frustration for me because you can't please everyone and the next person thinks the best thing to write is two sentences of how to get drunk or something, anything goes. Should try your idea of preparing yogurt as it makes a lot more sense than what I'm doing. What I wish for though is a good source of fruits. Everything I seem to be getting at the store of late is sour. Even those little oranges that look so good are bitter like lemons and they say not to consume too much sugar. Those pills are really a safety precaution. Who needs to get seriously sick. It is wonderful we have them but yeah you need to get some good bacteria into you as we need that too.

That sounds like a really good hearty meal. I made something similar but without the cheese topping. I should try that next time.

Just take it easy and for sure eat that yogurt. We've barely been eating dairy but have started topping our rice dishes with Greek plain yogurt once every couple of weeks. Tasty add on.
