What's on the coffee table?

I just hope it's not a disgrace to coffee tables around the world because mine has all sorts of things BUT coffee on it, most of the time. I still call it my coffee table but it's more like a multipurpose table. Not to mention that random stuff mysteriously end up on it too, all the time! Hair clip, pen drive, Lego man. So much for a coffee table. I saw this aquarium coffee table online by the way, it's basically an aquarium with a glass tabletop. Can you imagine? I was thinking that if that's my coffee table the fish would probably get depressed if they look up. What's on yours? Coffee? Or everything else?

Coffe table or not, people rest things on any available surface.

So true. I think even without one I still can't stop things from landing on the couch or the floor or the TV cabinet.

At least you don't have to keep clearing random things off the table like I do.

Lol!!! I have three coffee tables. The one in the living room just has a silver tray on it. The one in my old family room, as we call it, has a silver tea set, a silver tiered tea cake tray, and a silver candy dish. The third one is in our new family food and right this minute has a TV Guide and two remote controls on it. Those will go into the coffee table drawer when we finish watching TV. We are neat freaks. lol

Oh I think one is more than enough for me. If I have three it would mean triple the trouble. My old coffee table had drawers too, but I don't know why we never used them, hehe.

I haven't had a coffee table in years, but when I had one, they seemed to attract a lot of junk.

Like a magnet, yes! I still need it, I guess I probably need a table that I can fold and store inside the drawer or something.

I still don't have one. I moved in last year and threw my old table away. Me and my wife decided not to get coffee table so the little one can have more space to walk and play around in front of the sofa. But maybe we will get a small one to use only when we drink something and then move it behind the sofa when we're done.

@cahaya1983 I bet no coffee or tea cup would stand still if they played around the table

Yeah right now we don't have a side table next to the sofa so when guests come we need the coffee table when serving coffee or tea. But when the kids were younger we also moved the table to a corner so they had more space to play.

Good that you don't have to worry about the mess! I have a small lamp that I put on a small side table in the corner of the living area.

I have a coffee table, but it has NEVER had coffee placed on it! It DOES have a Peace Lily growing on it, several magazines and usually, it has the present day's mail on it until I sort it out just before I go to bed... I also have two end tables that have never had anyone's "end" on them!

Funny! I think I'm going to rename my coffee table as "whatever table" now. At least I won't feel very guilty that it's hijacked by every kind of thing but coffee.

@cahaya1983 (grinning at you!)You should be careful, Cahaya... If I ever get to Malaysia I am now planning on putting my "end" on your whatever table! (I do promise to wipe it off after I sit on it, though)

What once used to be a coffee table is now overloaded with things that will eventually have to be thrown out. At one time that coffee table used to enjoy be giving tea parties for my stuffed animals when I was a child.

I know what that's like. I can't do without one but I just have to keep clearing it otherwise I'd probably forget it's actually a coffee table.

My coffee table sits on top of my window seat for added space for my nicknacks. That's last year's tree.

A kid who I often babysit, uses our coffee table for her activities: sketching, toys, etc. Since we don't really use it, I don't mind one bit.

Yeah in our home it serves as the activity table too, even though there's another table allocated for that purpose. The coffee table must be very appealing somehow.

@cahaya1983 Ours is a giant and low one, almost the size of a baby mattress (ours is slightly narrower but longer I think, marvelous for spreading things out!).

I don't have a coffee table anymore but we have an ottoman with storage now so basically nothing can sit on top of it. I'm sure my coffee table used to have all sorts of things on it. I think an aquarium coffee table would be interesting but not very practical and yes, the fish would be depressed

I love ottoman tables! And I think the storage is a huge plus too. Yeah I guess the only way you can put mugs or glasses is by putting them on a tray. I think I've seen some big trays specially designed for ottoman tables.

Oh okay. I usually have my morning coffee in the living room so that's why I need a coffee table. Plus that's where we serve cookies or beverages to guests when they come over.
