Do you make Christmas cookies?

Growing up my mother, sister, and I used to or the 3 of us would get together with my 2 aunts and the 5 of us would make a bunch of them. Now that I live with just my husband and the 2 of us don't eat sweets, I don't bother. My sister had this genius idea to do a cookie swap on Saturday when we are all together to make the Christmas ravioli. I get the idea--reduce everyone's workload by sharing cookies. I decided to make my absolute favorite Christmas cookie: walnut balls. They are actually almost savory like shortbread and very buttery. You roll them in confectioner's sugar when they come out of the oven but that doesn't make them overly sweet. It will be nice to have a couple of them hanging around the house to have with a cup of coffee. That being said, I don't think I'll be taking my share of the cookies from the cookie swap. Or, if I have to so as not to offend anyone, I will be bringing them into work and I'll just give them to my students. We will never eat them here.

I think it's great that you're planning on taking them to work so they don't get wasted. The gift that keeps on giving.

@NJChicaa I figured as much. Since you aren't a sweets eater. You'd be so proud of me. I bought some Titos tonight.

As usual, I am merely a Christmas cookie consumer.

That's a great idea, and then everyone will have a taste of several kinds.

Your walnut cookies sound like my pecan balls. It's plain flour, white sugar, vanilla, butter, and chopped pecans. Then rolled in powdered sugar while warm. I love those!
