What Does It Matter whether Israel's or Palestine's Capital is Where They Say or Them?

Whoever believes Jerusalem is /their/ capital; there was a war in the 1960's, and it's my understanding that during that war Israel staked its claim on Jerusalem. https://whoareofbabylon.blogspot.com/2017/12/i-dont-know-if-msnbc-foxnews-need.html I hear (but didn't post in that blog) that America "claimed" that Jerusalem was Israel's capital, but constantly postponed "declaring" that capital (for fear of 'starting a war between Israel & Palestine'). Why does it matter whose capital is which?

Those who watched the movie "Kingdom of Heaven" starring Orlando Bloom would have seen that the battle for Jerusalem has been going on for centuries.
