Brrrrr, We Must Have Run Out of Fuel This Morning!

United States
December 11, 2017 3:20pm CST
We got home about 15 minutes ago and when I walked inside the cold air hit me. I was ready for a blast of warmth, but nope. It is a balmy 51 degrees in here at the moment. My guess is that we ran out of fuel this morning. Otherwise it would be a little warmer in her than this. I quickly handed hubby my debit card and had him go to the nearest station to get some kerosene. Doesn't surprise me that we ran out of fuel so soon. Hubby put 50 gallons in the tank not long ago. However, it has been cold out both night and day and the furnace has been running quite a bit. Once he gets the fuel in the tank and the furnace running we are heading out the door to the last of our 10 week course we have been taking. Until then, Little Miss and I will be sporting our winter jackets and hats. It is cold.

Hope it warms up soon. I’ve run out many times in the winter. I had a hot water pipe burst once too

Luckily we don't have to worry about that. We have heating tapes on the pipes.

What an unpleasant surprise, I hate being cold. Good that when you get back it will be warm.

I am glad we have natural gas heating, no need to be concerned about buying kerosene. The last 10 days have been very cold, day and night.

@just4him with it as cold as it has been it is no surprise that we ran out this morning. Thought we would be safe until the afternoon when hubby got back from hunting. He is on his way back home now to put more into the tank. This is crazy.

It would cost us a small fortune to run electric heat. We do have a space heater that we use when the temperatures are really cold and the furnace can't keep up with it.

It is always nice coming home to a warm house - or in our case a cool one if it is scorching outside.
