Woodstock: anyone remembers it?

Today I watched a film with Jane Fonda, Peace, Love & Missunderstanding(2012) that brought me back to a time long gone when I was a young woman. The action takes place in today´s Woodstock and we can see three generations. J. Fonda is an old hippie grandma in a place where hippies are still much in. Her daughter who has had lifelong problems with her too liberal mom, goes back with her 2 children when her husband asks for a divorce. This is how the movie starts. And I will not tell you more because I think that it is worth watching it. It is romantic, for those who like that. But it also has a lot of other things. The real Woodstock was much more than a music festival although up to now there is out of this world music that hasn´t been surpassed.

I don't think Woodstock will ever be forgotten. It is/was an institution.

I wasn't around for the first Woodstock but I am aware of it and how it called upon a generation into action.

During holidays, the local people organized Woodstock them for the young generations. I had attended a couple of times during my college days.

The real Woodstock had some of the world best singers and musicians. Jimmy Hendrix was there and so were Janis Joplin and Joan Baez.

They tried to recreate Woodstock (twice) when I was young. First with the 25th anniversary "Woodstock II," then with "Woodstock '99," which resulted in rioting and looting in the end. My generation was not about peace or love, but anger and destruction. Sad how things change. That sounds like an interesting movie, though. I would be interested in seeing it.

@Srbageldog I have always thought that if Jesus was born again, we would kill him in the same way.

I had a rat6her mixed opinion about Woodstock. Some of the music suited me, but there was quite a bit that I simply did not like.

@marguicha I used to be a Rolling Stones fan, but even they had changed their style when Woodstock took place.

@Asylum I was never much into The Rolling Stones but Jimmy Hendrix was incredible and I still love Joan Baez.

We all prefer some music to others. I loved Joan Baez then and now too. She came to Chile last year and I got tickets. I was moved to tears with her.
