When i was a kid i remember going to school with 50cm of snow and -50C. We use to go in the ditch, and could skate to the bus stop. I just heard they cancelled all buses and schools tomorrow. I'm staring outside wondering why. It's currently -22 C and we've had 30cm of snow. I am driving fine in it. Kids are so bubble wrapped now a days.

When my kids were in school if the school officials could slip and slide their way to their offices there would be school that day. Guess it depended on if any of them ended up in a ditch. LOL

When I was a kid most kids walked to school, because there were neighborhood schools close enough to go home for lunch every day. On what would be called a snow day these days, we'd pack a lunch and stay at school all day, with indoor recess. About the only school buses were those that took the "special" kids to a school with classes for them, and the ones that picked up the farm kids.

Very true. During my school days we had less vacation time and unless it was a very strong tropical storm, classes were not suspended. We endured flooded streets on our way to school.
