Is It Okay To Feel Encouraged Yet?

I expect to have an edited manuscript returned to me on Friday. I have a cover artist lined up and will start the process of having my book published. It had been a long hard road just for one simple book of short stories. The first "editor" turned out to be nothing but a scammer who tried to take the money and run. I got all of it back except for a small amount (thanks Paypal!). The only reason I don't expose this person is because of rules but I hope she hasn't tried to pull the same stunt on anyone else. Lesson learned. My original cover artist flew the coop and is nowhere to be found. She did the covers on my first two novels and I would have gladly used her again. I know the person who will be doing the cover for this book and I trust him to do a good job. Thinking about going with Amazon's publishing, if they accept it. If not, I'll just publish it myself like I've done with my other books. I've been discouraged over and over again. A writer has to put up with so much and often for little reward in the end. Hoping for a better result this time.

Being a writer can be a hard job. Read this about Hemingway and you'll learn to be patient.
All 47 endings to Ernest Hemingway's 1929 masterpiece A Farewell To Arms will be published in a new edition next week.

I can relate. I once lost an entire manuscript due to my laptop fizzling out. Never could find it again and had to rewrite the entire thing.

@irishidid At least your laptop didn't burn in the fire. I learned long ago to back up the important stuff!

NEVER give up on yourself!!! I can speak from experience. I am a teddy bear artist by choice and by chance. I have lived in excruciating pain since 1983 when I was seriously injured on the job and wasn't relieved from my position on the job nor taken for medical help. If I had been taken immediately for medical help I wouldn't be in pain today, and I wouldn't be permanently disabled. My home and studio burned to the ground October second of this year. My clothing, bear making supplies, car, furniture, and most important of all my dog and nine cats all perished in the blaze. When I returned home that night I only had the clothes on my back and my purse. I'm still trying! I hired an attorney and am in the process of suing the company that caused the fire, I am attempting to make miniature bears because I am staying at someone else's home. Yes, I have felt like giving up many times, but the stubborn side of me is much stronger! Let your stubborn side take over! You have talent, let it shine!!!!! And let me know when your book is published, I'll buy it and read it!!!!! The most important point is don't get discouraged and don't give up. You'll make it big, you just need to keep trying!

What a great testimony! I'm too stubborn to give up but there are times I feel like it. I try to think in the positive most of the time. Best of luck getting things sorted out with your lawsuit. Not sure you'd like the book. It's scary stories with witches, vampires, ghost, and other creatures. Then again, maybe that's what you like to read.

@irishidid For you I'll give it a try. I just won't read it before I go to bed. I read a lot of how to books, some mysteries, and some sci-fi. Right now its mostly books on antiques and collectibles. That's a part of my business too along with designing and making the teddy bears and other animals. Thanks for the good wishes on the lawsuit. I went through one forty years ago, it was workman's comp. I hated going through that one and it wasn't nearly as big as this one is. How about sending a few witches, ghosts, and ghouls to rattle the power company's cage and make them give in and give us what we want without a big fight? Well I can dream can't I? Just like your discussion. You have talent and you shouldn't allow discouragement to sneak into your thinking!

All that is worth it in the end to get your book published.
