How do you prepare for a job interview?

I have an interview 4 days from now for this pretty important job that I would really, really love to get. I am trying to ace it. So here I am, 4 days in advance obsessing already. (Does anyone else enter these obsession modes like me?) Better question yet, in what ways do you personally prepare for a job interview? I have been trying to study the job description which is quite lengthy and trying to find ways to relate my current job to each of those. Also have been thinking up some answers to commonly asked interview questions. Finally, I will be making a list of questions for THEM to show that I am interested. Do you also make lists of questions to ask THEM at interviews? In what other ways do you prepare for a job interview? Any guidance appreciated. And happy Thursday all!

Glad that you mentioned about list of questions for them. I was supposed to say that it will show interest. Just answer their questions with honesty. How about the St.A.R approach in answering. When they ask you question use the acronyms. Start with Situation, give brief description. A is for action. What course of action did you do for that specific situation. Lastly, R - result. What was the outcome of your action to resolve the situation.

True. But I always wonder how much honesty they want. You know?

@maezee that is a mystery to me as well. I really don't know. I think as long as you are confident.

It has been so long since I had a job interview, you made me think hard about this one! Lol. I do remember asking questions, I remember being nervous, and I remember trying to pretend I had some confidence in myself and my abilities. Now, if I had a job interview I would just pray about it. I wouldn't stress-they are just people and they could either employ me or not. Stressing won't change it! I wish you the best of luck with the interview and I will be praying it goes well. =)

I panic I get so nervous about job interviews, I do all the preparation I need to do and more but once I get in there my mind goes completely blank and I end up feeling like an idiot. I've been successful at 95% of the job interviews I've had in my life, but I don't know how because I'm sure I come across as completely incompetent because my nerves make me forget absolutely everything

I search, download, and practice my answers for the most commonly asked questions for that field/job. Also, I research the work (job description, what it does, etc.) and the company.

I think you're doing the right thing-- looking up best answers. I hope you get the job.
