What did you really want for Christmas when you were a kid but never got?

I remember as a child I wanted a Chatty Cathy doll more then anything else but I didn't get it. We were a family of six girls so there wasn't a lot of money to spend on such things. We always got a doll but we never got a talking doll.
I remember one of my cousins got one. She was an only child. She got Chatty Cathy but her mom wouldn't even allow her to play with it because she was scared it would get broken. It went up in the attic. I remember seeing it one time at my grandmother's house when I was an adult and the doll was still in the package. So I think it would have been much worse to get the doll you really wanted but never being allowed to play with it.
So what is something that you really wanted for Christmas when you were a kid but never got?

I really want to get you a Chatty Cathy. My sister got a brunette one, and I got a blond one, one Christmas. I can't imagine giving a child something and then tellilng them they couldn't play with it. What's the point even? It's just MEAN. Thinking about all the fun you would have had with that doll. This will haunt me all day, haha.
Every year in the Sears catalog I circled this basket of a stuffed Mama cat and her kittens, lol. That's how we indicated our wishes, we circled them in the catalog. I never got the kitten basket. We did each get a REAL kitten though, so I shouldn't have been pushing my luck!

Nothing. We weren't really picky about our toys, and the stuff we did get we loved so much.

We were the same way. We never really asked for anything but we loved what we got. It was just something I had hoped Santa would bring.

While she could sell it now and get good money, it seems like a shame she never enjoyed it. The only thing I can think of is a dog. Technically, I got one before I grew up, at 13. However, each year as a child I would beg for a dog, but I was never successful. Until one Christmas I opened an envelope that said, One trip to the pound to get a dog. I went nuts!

I wanted one of those big play houses and the battery cars.
But the time I wanted them I was already outgrown.

I can't think of anything I really wanted but didn't get. We got gifts but we knew we were thankful for whatever we got. I never was that kid who wanted the hottest toy of the season. My brother and I always wanted something we can do together, like board games and what not. We got a lot of gifts like that.
I remember the Chatty Cathy dolls.

I can't remember really wanting anything special that I couldn't have. I did get some fairly decent presents when I was a kid.. but I had a large, extended family that spoiled me rotten. I got a VCR when I was 6, and I had 3 Cabbage Patch dolls, a Punky Brewster doll, Rainbow Bright..I really loved dolls and playing house (Not surprising I grew up to have 5 kids).

If this was the doll that repeated back what a little girl said, then I wanted one also, and I didn't get one.
I did get a letter from Santa in red ink, explaining why, and I was satisfied that Santa took the time to write me.
Instead of this doll, I received a doll that cried. After a while, that was boring so my brother and I tore her face off to see how she worked.
