Sorry, Santa, I couldn't help myself

I'm not getting any gifties from Santa this year. Nope. I've been bad.. I committed an Act of Christmas. I willfully bought butter and sugar. I sure did. Last night I collected two of our hen's fat brown eggs and cracked them open into that butter and sugar. Mashed them up and oh my yes! The fine start to a batch of sugar cookies. This morning I rolled out that fine rather fragile dough on a floured board. Not a shred of nutrition any where in sight. Three pans full. Three bags are going into the freezer for giving away and yup, Solstice Eve and Christmas day. And further yup: hubby and I had a sample. Or two. Winking to Santa: you may have to go to some other house for your cookies and milk.

@paigea I am not supposed to be imbibing in all things sugar and butter. I love that line of yours: "nutrition for my spirit." I've been making these cookies since I was a kid. Not an excuse but it is truth.

@paigea I used to make gingerbread people and snickerdoodles and hubby would make Scotch shortbreads and butterscotch candy- all for us two at Christmas. Then the store candy. Nope. This year I made only a single batch of sugar cookies.

@MALUSE How to explain me. I'm feeling sorry for you at this point. There are certain things that my family taught me to do at Christmas. For instance, put out the creche and the tree. I've not done either this year. I did make sugar cookies. They are not good for me but I made them cause they are things my family would do at Christmas- Christmas acts. I am a poet so just saying I made a cooky bores me and I write things like I do.

If that is the worst thing you ever do, you will not get coal from Santa. I do not do a lot of things I used to do, but if I feel the need I will.

No, @shaggin. Not for over a year now. I have tried to clean up my act and get healthier so after much thought, decided to quit buying butter and sugar on a regular basis. My waist line improved, too.

@shaggin It creeps in but mostly I am not eating refined sugar and for sure not butter. I also rarely eat cheese type food these days- too much fat and salt in cheese for me and my health.

@DianneN I guess you are right. We're trying to keep our weight sane and our health in good order so not sure about this being a good idea.

You are way ahead of me, I haven't baked even one cookie so far and I am not sure I will get to do any before we leave. We all need a little butter and sugar at this festive time of the year!! Indulge and don't worry, they fat guy in the red suit won't miss them!! lol

@Tampa_girl7 Good question. I can't smell so I don't know. Hubby did say at one point that it smelled like they were getting done. He says stuff like that cause he knows I easily forget when I put the cookies in the oven! Oops.

Poor Santa! You do need to sample them so you know they're good. You wouldn't want to give away cookies nobody will like, after all.
