Yepper, The days start gittin longer in about 3 days I'm really lookin forward to those longer days even if it's only by a minute a day, it's still longer than the day before These short days drive me nuts. Are you a day person too? As JJ pointed out there will always be 24 hours in a day BUTT the nites will be shorter startin in 3 days

The sun will set a little later starting the 21st, but the morning will continue to be dark. We have to wait until the first week of January to see brighter mornings.

Yeah, that's true but it's nice to know we'll lose a minute of darkness each night.

It gets dark so early here. It’s 5:32 pm and it’s pitch dark out I hate it. I love the photo you added!

I feel the same way, I much prefer the longer days. Thank you, it was on of the last Christmas trees that mom put up. It was the smallest one she'd ever bought. I miss her Christmases.

Just realised I haven't even thought about the length of days but they are short of course. It is winter here and we have had snow.

I don't think I would want snow, it snowed a little in 2015 and that's enough to last me for decades.

That is one of the things I love about where we are in Florida, it is that much farther west in the Eastern time zone that the days are a lot longer than they are here in CT where it starts getting dark about 5 p.m.

I'm considerably farther west than CT and it's dusk at 5pm, it was a 10 hr 4 minute day today for us. I'm not sure how far northeast CT is of my location.

It's the mountain time zone here @BelleStarr I think that puts me 2 hours behind you, right? It's 9:22am right now.

@rebelann CT is more on the eastern edge of the Eastern Time Zone, Ocala is much further west in the Eastern time zone. Are you in the Central Time Zone or Rocky Mountian, you are at least a couple hours different in time from us.

Strictly speaking all days are not 24 hours. Here in England we had 25 hours on 29th October this year.

I fear the reality is that no one got an extra hour no matter what time of year it is @Asylum the sun goes up and sets when it wants not when the clocks say so.

it doesn't matter to me either way,but i'm in a time change zone-that's what disorients me.not to mention all the clocks i got to keep moving back and forward in the house seasonally.

I'm so glad I only have one clock and it stays on summertime, I have my cell and PC to give me the wintertime.

The winter solstice means almost as much to me as Christmas. The coming of the Light. Especially when its cold and frozen and hard to get around, then I really am grateful for the Solstice.

Yes, it sure is @sallypup but I wouldn't want to freeze my butt off doing that. I'd rather just keep the sentiment in my heart.

@rebelann I think its sentiment that gets me enjoying Christmas. For sure the Solstice is huge for me. I plan to light an old oil lamp Thursday night. I admire the folks who have the fortitude to sit up outside all night, waiting for the sunrise. Such beauty there. Spiritual in a deep way.

I remember those depressing work days, it's always a bummer when the job requires staying indoors and if you dare go outside where you work it's likely to be mostly citified pollution. Thank heavens I'm retired.
