Would you believe that the picture above is a mosaic made from 320,000 bite-sized rice cakes?
I was so amazed when I heard this news on TV this morning. This "Puto" Mosaic or Rice Cake Mosaic was made by Kirk Russell Cruz of Calasiao, Pangasinan, here in the Philippines. He was helped by the puto producers and vendors and also the people of the province. This loving image of a grandfather feeding his grandson a rice cake is 208 square meters and was intended to beat the Guinness’ largest rice cake mosaic record. The people of the province are hopeful that they can beat the largest rice cake mosaic of Fukushima, Japan which is 64 square meters.
They made this just in time for their "Puto" Festival ( rice cake festival).
Their creativity is really admirable...

Calasiao is famous for their "puto".On trips that take me through the province of Pangasinan, I always hope a puto vendor might get on our bus to sell their wares. I always buy several bags of this rice cake.
I hope they make it to the Guinness book of records.

That is a one huge effort, most definitely something to put in the Book of Records.
People from my Province sure like to make things besides selling popular Bangus / Milk Fish.

Wow what an effort, and that's A LOT of cakes! I wasn't even aware of the one in Japan. Hopefully this one breaks the record!
