Bread is staple food throughout the world. It is prepared from a dough of flour and water, usually by baking. It is found in different types, shapes, sizes, and textures of breads. What we get in the market is a kind of commercial bread, which commonly contains additives to improve flavor, texture, color, shelf life. Bread is widely used in breakfast and snacks and it comes handy when you do not want to prepare anything but want to grab something quickly. However, some people do not like eating bread as it is made of refined flour and is not considered good for health. Do you regularly buy and use ready-made bread from the market or do you prefer baking your own bread at home? Image courtesy - Google

Both. I have some I made here, as well as some from the store (in freezer now).

It is good to hear that you believe in making bread at home. Hopefully, that turns out to be better than the one you buy from the market.

@YrNemo OH! I see. I did not know that home made bread could turn soggy and if not consumed within three days, it will expire. I understand that preservative and certain other things are added in the commercial bread to increase its self life.

@dpk262006 homemade bread got stale and moldy extremely fast (perhaps because it is too yummy?) . By the second or third day, we the cook could begin to kiss it goodbye (unless we slice the loaf and put it in the freezer).

It means that your father make sure that you do not run out of stock and he keeps replenishes the stock of bread. How do you like to consume your bread, with butter or cheese or something else?

We love bread (just as much as we love rice)! Yes, it's also very carb-y - not the healthiest food - but oh so good! We buy our bread as we are slaves to convenience . . . though I have baked bread and rolls before.

You are also fond of bread and even it has carbohydrates, you all consume it because it is quick to make anything with bread e.g. sandwich etc. It is interesting to hear that earlier you used to bake bread and rolls at home but not any longer.

@dpk262006 Oh that looks so good! How about naan bread, which I associate with Indian food? I admit we have a frozen version that we keep in the freezer from a particular store - very yummy!

Some people bake bread at home, provided they have time and resources. Understandably, if you consume bread, you buy it from the market?

We mostly buy multi-grain bread but don't eat a lot. Vince has toast at breakfast and sometimes we have toasted sandwiches for lunch.

It means you sparingly use bread, may be once or twice in a week. I also buy multi grain or garlic bread. I take it twice or thrice in a week with omellate or cheese or marmalade or sometimes we make sandwich. We normally eat it during breakfast and don't take it in lunch or dinner.

@Hannihar You buy a bread, put it in freezer and use it as per your needs and you even do not finish your entire bread loaf, sometimes.

@dpk262006 I put my bread in the freezer and take it out if want to use it and there is some that sits in the frig that I do not use. I do not eat bread that much. If I go to someone for our Sabbath then I eat bread because it is part of our custom.

I buy bread only because of convenience. Most of the time I prefer baking my own - then I know exactly what is in it.

Baking bread at home is better than buying market bread, provided one has time to bake. Home made products are always better than market products.

It is good to have bread occasionally. It is made of refined flour, therefore, overall it is not good for our health.
