In our classroom both teachers and students have been continuously ill for a long time. It has involved serious amounts of violent coughing. You know, I have had pneumonia, and am still coughing. Two of my coworkers have had sinus infections, and coughing. One had to have an inhaler. Today was my bus day. It was a half day, and the kids ate lunch at 11, then were dismissed at 12. My one little guy coughed real hard, a couple of times, and threw up. On the bus. TMI for some, I am sure. I got up, got paper towels, and then used sanitizing wipes to clean up his car seat, pants legs and the floor. I explained to his mom when we arrived home.

That is one thing I don't miss about working with children -- all the sickness! Poor kiddo, though, hope he feels better and you guys all beat that bug that's going around soon.

I do hope we get over it in the next two weeks. Of course we all may travel and pick up new infections in other places.

Poor kid. It is never Fun when the younger ones are like this, as there is no real way to help them to where they feel better to where they can tell you.

He is autistic, with very limited words or understanding of his body and aches and pains. And he has a couple of food allergies, and he is type 1 diabetic. I would not want him to get dehydrated.

Yee-ah... I remember back in second grade I felt ill and had my hand up to leave the room but the teacher was ignoring me. I threw up on the floor beside my desk. One of the boys said "I know what you had for lunch." He thought it was cottage cheese but I actually had peanut butter on white bread. TMI back at ya.

Love those kinds of teachers. I wish she had to clean it, but she probably called the poor custodian.

@GardenGerty I'm not sure who cleaned it up but I do remember she scolded me for not telling her I was sick.I pointed out that I DID have my hand up.

That's almost a worse story than me getting up at 3 am to tend to an ailing and loud cat.

My daughter has a problem with cat "gak" as we call it, although she can handle all kinds of kid messes.

@GardenGerty One of cats that now rests at peace used to basically scream when she hurled. Drove my husband up the wall.

Poor little kid. It's good you had towels and wipes to help make him more comfortable.

There is also a "body fluids clean up kit" if we needed it. Our buses come equipped with lots of stuff.

@GardenGerty That makes a lot of sense to have stuff on hand that you might need.

This seems like a really bad year for the upper respiratory infections. I have found myself coughing so hard my ribs hurt.

Poor kid and poor you having to clean that up. My daughter got car sick constantly until she was about 5 and I started giving her dramamine. I had to change her clothes every where we went it was awful.

My daughter's oldest ALWAYS got car sick. They finally figured out that it was the way the car seat squeezed her tummy when she ate in the car. No more eating in the car seat.

@GardenGerty wow interesting! I got sick every time I got in a vehicle until I was 12 and started training myself to drink water, roll the window down until the feeling passed. My mom never fed me before we went anywhere so there wasn’t much to throw up but I know it wasn’t like your daughters case.

Oh no - it happened on the bus! Aww - I hope the little guy feels better soon (hate to say it, but sometimes we do feel better after we throw up). Tis the season, as they say . . . for everyone to get sick. Hope your cough goes away soon too!

Well, it was from drainage, not from a sick stomach. He has a lot of food allergies and we feed him pretty simple. I think strapping him in a car seat put extra pressure on his tummy. I hope we all quit coughing soon. Hate to say it, but we need a hard freeze and some snow.

I have had that happen to me before. That's usually when I will finally drag my stubborn butt to the doctor for medicine. There's nothing worse than coughing so much and so hard that it makes you want to vomit! Kudos to you for having the stomach to clean up the mess from the child! Not many people would be able to handle that.

Well, in his case it was mostly mucous, so not too bad. We do have puke powder available if it is a problem. I went to my doctor right after Thanksgiving because of the cough and the fatigue.

Been there and done that last week, not in a car seat but in the bathroom. I cough and fart, cough and sneeze and I have coughed and peed more than once.

We could have our own body parts concert. I am having the issue of walk-cough-toot and am grateful that is usually not when I am around people, or not very audible.
