We always liked Whitman's Samplers with the double layers and map. I got a box yesterday..I thought they were a good price at only 5.00, but there is a big catch..that buys you an 8 oz box!! No double layers! Inflation I guess. They had the map and most of the old favorites..but I was expecting a regular size box. Oh well, I suppose I don't need all that chocolate hanging around..However, I feel kind of ripped off. I suppose the double layer box is 10. At least I still have some for guests..Have you bought any Christmas chocolate?

How about Hanukkah chocolate? Was there any of that available? There is a very heavy Jewish population in south Florida, there should be plenty of delicious Jewish delicacies available!

@moffittjc I bought Hanukkah chocolates in CT for my grandchildren before we came down to south Florida. Didn't want to take any chances with their being none left!

Yes I noticed they have skimped a lot this year.
And Russel Stovers are cheaper than Whitmans now, at least here.

The standard box used to be double layered..this was one single layer.

It's a cycle..enough people will complain and they will go back to making it the regular size but charge twice as much!

There's a Whitman's Chocolate factory in St. Augustine on the east coast of Florida. Every time I visit St. Augustine I just have to stop by the factory and take a tour. They let you eat chocolate and sample the goodies all along the tour! One of my favorite things to do!

@snowy22315 It's my favorite Florida town too! I go there often, and just about any chance I get. I never get tired of it!

I buy dinky little packets of Lindt chocolates but when I work out how much each piece costs I'm always a bit horrified. Luckily I don't buy it too often. We were given small tins of toffees once for helping out at something and there were just 6 toffees rattling around in a tin that could have held 20. It's pretty annoying - just the principle of putting as few as possible and charging as much as possible.

Nope, but Jay got Christmas chocolates, for a gift. There's half as many in a box! As you said, none of us need that much candy, during the holidays.
