Hi MyLot,
First off, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas if you celebrate, and if you don't I hope you've had a nice week.
I was inspired by a discussion with @dpk262006 about cuddling.
Do you like cuddling? I do, but alas for now my willing participant is the cat. (Hey! She gives good cuddles what can I say?)
As for humans, well, I'm perpetually single so yeah. So much for cuddles.
Or is it?
Enter: the cuddle party.
I'm not kidding. This is a thing.
So - my impression after reading some of the materials on them is that a cuddle party is all about non-sexual consensual touch.
There is an introduction , a boundaries seminar (about how to say "no" about how to accept hearing "no") a social time and a cuddle time where you can ask for cuddles, back rubs, shoulder rubs, hair brushing... etc anything that isn't sexual in nature.
You can come just to practice saying "no". Or you can come to cuddle.
There is a facilitator on hand and the whole thing is moderated. If you have an issue you can go to the facilitator .
It sounds wonderful and I'm highly intrigued about it.
Though cuddling with a bunch of strangers could be seen as highly odd too

Glad to know that my discussion about cuddling gave you an idea to start this post.
The concept of cuddle party sounds interesting to me. I would like to be part of it.

I think I've read that people who don't get regular hugs will die earlier than others who do. This might be a good thing for them, though I don't know about cuddling strangers. I cuddle my dog, but usually it's not something she likes very much.

I would only be interested for my hair being brushed! Lol. That relaxes me and is not very fun for my husband and kids apparently.

I'd never attend a cuddle party. But I do like to cuddle with my bf and sick kids who are miserable and need love.

@FayeHazel i hate germs too but little kids always want to cuddle when they're sick. And being the babysitter / auntie.. you cuddle. Lol

You get to hear something new everyday, I 'll keep my cuddles for people I know though.
Christmas was good...While I am a Hindu, That's the day we visit churches , light candles, sing along with the choir....Its a time for goodwill.
Hope yours was joyous too...Best wishes for this season and a wonderful New Year.

@FayeHazel Yes, I read about it somewhere else. Some parents can sue the hospitals if strangers handle their precious babies however.

@FayeHazel I have a hard time not saying what I think and if I was cuddling with someone stinky I would feel I had to tell them why I didn't feel comfortable cuddling with them. Imagine how it would work if everyone picked someone to cuddle with and you were the last picked how it would feel.

The shoulder rubs and back rubs would be nice, but I don't think I could cuddle with a stranger. I would be a little weirded out by that.

@FayeHazel I definitely could handle a massage exchange. Do you by any chance have a massage school anywhere nearby? We have one here where I live, and you can schedule appointments for free massages. Their students have to train and practice, so they do that by getting people to volunteer to come in for massages. I've never had a bad experience doing that; the students are really good at what they do.

Ah yes, come to think on it - I've often thought that there should be a massage exchange. My shoulders are always tight. Maybe this will work out to be a version of it. We will see. At least I hope to find out :-)

I think I seen this on t.v. before. I would so love to go do this! I find it interesting, cuddles and back rubs. No one can mess with my hair, its so curly they would pull it out by the tangles.
Knowing me I would always get someone that would poke me in the rump while cuddling.

Cuddling with strangers would not appeal to me, but I DO love to cuddle with my wife. She may have something to say about cuddling with strangers of course as well. I suppose if some need that and have no qualms about it, we do live in a free country, I say knock yourself out.

@porwest Yeah, apparently though that is all that happens at these things. As weird as it is. Oh other things but all along the lines of G-rated stuff, supposedly you can trade neck rubs, shoulder rubs, brush someone's hair...... but it does sound really suspect lol.
