A few funnies about my pets

My parrot we have had for 6 months. It’s been fun and awful at the same time I’m not going to pretend this is an easy pet. It is ear piercing the noises he makes. The puppy howled for the first time yesterday because the bird was making such a racket. I’ve had parakeets and they were nothing compared to this moody strange bird. I’ve spent the most time trying to bond with him so he prefers me over anyone else. For the first time about a week ago he went on my boyfriends shoulder and the excitement on his face was priceless as he said he had never felt like a pirate more in his life then at that moment On Christmas Eve I was laying on the couch and the parrot flew across the room he was in and hit the screen door trying to get to me where I was laying on the couch. It felt like a Christmas miracle because the owner before us didn’t think he could fly and anytime he has tried since we had him he couldn’t. He just molted and regrew new feathers so I think that is what made the difference. On Christmas while we were at my parents for dinner my son had his YouTube video paused on the laptop screen. I came home quick to grab a cheesecake in the fridge and saw my cat sitting next to the laptop and the video was playing. I think I should enter her in America’s got talent pets edition . Now this part isn’t funny but I can’t make a pet post without including our princess. I took the puppy out yesterday to go the bathroom. It was 12 degrees and had a light dusting of snow on the ground. She was so cold she squatted and lifted one leg like a boy. Then she ran off to go number 2 and started limping. Within seconds she laid on the ground screaming and yelping. Her poor paws must have been so painful. It breaks my heart thinking about it. I scooped her up immediately and took her back in the warm house where soon after she pooped on my floor lol couldn’t blame her really. The photo is of my puppy.

Can you buy boots for the puppy? You can here but they are intended for cattle and sheep dogs. What sort of a parrot do you have?

I always thought those boots sold in stores for dogs were just for fashion but maybe they are for purposes like this. The parrot is a blue fronted amazon parrot.

@JudyEv I'm going to look into a pair at the pet store. It really makes my heart ache thinking about dogs having to live out there in it.

@shaggin Even if they are just for fashion they might help.

Poor thing. She needs boots for her feet. My daughter has boots for her dog, or she did a few years ago. Your parrot is funny.

I plan to get her boots when I get to the pet store. Unfortunately it won't be until next weekend. She is okay in the fluffy snow but for some reason the ground was very cold that day.

@shaggin I'm sure it was, if you're anywhere in the North where the wind chills are frigid and will continue to be for at least a week.

When I was young we would watch a show called Americas funniest videos and the funny things pets did was always the best I thought.

My granddog Zuzu was with me for a week and a few times i took her out she would do her business and limp back to the house. We have tried booties in the past but it never worked. If the air takes our breath away I can only imagine how cold an animal's feet would be.

I feel so bad for them. I plan to look for boots for her but when she goes out she likes to run all over and I think the snow would get in her boots unless I shoveled the whole yard. I took her out this morning and it was very cold she urinated then kept picking up her paws so I brought her in to warm up for 10 minutes in her crate then took her back out to finish.

All interesting and funny tales of your pets. Please get boots for your princess! We bout them for our dog, too, because his paws froze when we walked him, especially on the ice and snow. Even Doodles shakes his paws when it's cold and runs back to the house. Your poor baby girl!

I felt so bad for her all night after that knowing how painful it had to be. I will be looking at the pet store for boots the next time I am out shopping. It really makes me think about all those poor stray cats and dogs out there and pets that live outside in those awful conditions.

@DianneN we were out for 3 minutes tops and it hurt her paws that bad. I saw others on facebook whose animals acted a similar way that day so the ground must have beem extremely cold.

@shaggin I'm glad you will look for boots for her. She may walk funny until she gets used to them, but she definitely will be more comfy. I find it unbearable to think of those poor animals out suffering in that weather and without food. Heartbreaking.

Poor little puppy, my dog would probably do the same. She thinks she's too good to go out in the rain.

My puppy doesn't like the rain either. Nor do I but I can wear a jacket. She'll get used to things but I do want to buy her little boots for her feet in the snow.

My boyfriend brought his dog over last night and she seems to have a cold and was cranky. My puppy was being aggressive and biting her and wanting to play and she didn't want much to do with that.

@shaggin must have been frustrating for the not to have a willing playmate.

Maybe she needs some boots? Sometimes, salt or little stones get on their feet.

I haven't put out any salt on the sidewalk so I know thankfully it was not that. Some salt can make them sick if they lick their paws after I've heard. That makes me worried as I am not sure what kind of salt I have in the tub outside from last year.

A parrot that does ear piercings? You could make a bob or two with the novelty factor alone.

He bites my ears often when he is on my shoulder but hasn't broken the skin there yet thankfully.

Poor puppy, cold ground is so hard on the paw pads. I think boots are in order.

I missed having a puppy, if only the previous ones weren't born with some viral disease. they would have been alive today.

Was the mother infected with the virus while she was pregnant and passed it onto the babies?

Luckily he flew into the screen and the room is so small he only flew a few feet so he didn't build up speed and hurt himself. I was happy to see he really can fly though since we thought his feathers were damaged by the original owners and unable to ever fly.

AH it's been awhile since I've been around dogs. Never thought about that they have to go out to go bathroom - but so cold must hurt the feet. Never would have thought that a parrot would be that much a challenge

My parakeets were so easy and fun I never expected this with the parrot. The online information didn’t prepare me very well. My boyfriend wants to build him things to climb on and thinks I should get another one to keep it company. I told him if I do and that one makes it even louder that he has to take one lol
