Yesterday we took a trip to the animal shelter to take some blankets for the animals so they wouldn't be cold. While we were we decided to take a look at the animals. A half hour later we came home with a new addition to our family. Neither one of us could resist this dog. He was so polite and quiet and yet lively. He had been badly abused and I am a sucker for abused animals. According to the staff when they first got him he had a wide collar imbedded into his neck. They had to cut it out if his skin. They also had to operate on one of his hind legs. It was broken so badly he ended up with a 4 inch scar. The next thing you know we were asking if we could interact with him. He was playful and seemed to like both of us. That was it he adopted us. He seems to have attached to both of us and follows us around. He don't want either one of him our of his site. He seems to be afraid he will be left again. Anyway, he is a terrier mix. He weighs 44 lbs. and is a medium size dog. He is sweet, quiet, and affectionate. When he gets over being so scared I will take a picture of him. We love our Buddy already.

We are loving having him in our home. He is so sweet and so afraid he will be left alone. I am sure we will have him confident and self assured in a bit. We know he is already happy.

That is so awesome. First, what a wonderful thing to do to donate to a shelter. But when I dog reaches out to you, you just know you're meant to be together. I know you will give him a loving home.

It was funny when we first saw him We both stopped outside the cage and talked to him. He sat and watched up and when we walked away he star5ted to whine a bit. As I said, he adopted us.

We always seem to end up with animals that have been abused. I guess we both can't stand the thought of an innocent animal being abused.

It is. They give more even more love when they are a rescue animal. I just can't stand to hear about an animal being mistreated.

You did two good things by bringing the blankets and then adopting a dog and one less dog to be adopted. That was very special what you did. I can understand how the dog would follow you around worried about being abandoned again.

@Hannihar I am sure she is happy. I think when you take in an animal that has been abandoned or abused you most of the time find that they seem to realize that you have saved them.

@HazySue Susan I understand completely. My first cat was 13 weeks old and a little butter ball and she was put out in the street at that age. My second cat was found 2 days after she was born left to die and they nursed her back to health and then after 3 months the lady said she was allergic and was looking for a home for her. I just lost my cat that I loved so much so took her in. It was hard to get information out of the lady so I did not know much. She was never taught manners so she can bite at times. She can be so affectionate too and I know she wants love and she buries herself into me while she are laying on the couch. It is like she cannot get enough of me. I just hope she is happy.
