On to Plan C

Everything I have seen tells me that I-95 in South Carolina and Georgia is bumper to bumper and that it is melting in the day and freezing at night. Not something we want to drive on. We have decided to change our route. Instead of staying here another day we are going to head toward Atlanta and spend tomorrow night at my brother's house. From his door to my door, it is just about 5 hours so on Saturday we will drive home to Ocala and this way we can go to our church on Sunday morning and we will be home and safe. This is not a trip that I will forget anytime soon, not that it was so bad but I realize how hard it is to find good current information about what is happening on our nation's highways. My husband's niece is in Charleston and she said that the roads were passable but obviously she is not talking about the entire stretch of I-95. Both hotels have let me change my reservations again and I haven't seen my brother since last year when my mother got so sick so that will be enjoyable for me. and I haven't seen my sister in law in about 5 years. Hopefully, it will be all's well that end's well.

Oh my. I never thought a drive South would be so hard to do. We might have freezing ice on the roads again in the morning. I surely hope not cause hubby took time off last time it happened and I'm sure he can't get off again.

The thought of ice is just disconcerting and dangerous so I am taking the dry route. We have never had this much trouble before. I hope that you don't have to drive on the icy roads tomorrow.

@BelleStarr Icy roads sure take the fun out of a trip. Last winter was just totally crazy with snow and ice. I hope that does not happen again.

Yes it is and I wish I had more time I would stop and see Andersonville on the way by, which is something I have always wanted to do.

We have very good updates on the Swiss roads, but when it comes to go to Italy, most of the time, they are not reliable.

Oh I am thinking that this should be a safe run, no snow all the way just cold. But thank you so much and a prayer would not be taken amiss!!

The roads where we are is fine it was ahead of us that they were bad so by changing our route we can totally avoid areas that were hit by the blizzard. Other than traffic which is horrible near Atlanta, it should be clear sailing.

I think that's a great idea to visit your brother since you are so close by. Our first year driving to Florida saw us one day ahead of a huge snow and ice storm. Boy, did we luck out. Have fun and welcome home away from home! Our new car, which is at home in CT, of course, gives weather, road, and traffic conditions. You should have borrowed it. lol
