I Won! Finally Someone Listened To Me

After two years of hunting season and calling the police and game wardens, I won! Last Thursday my life was interrupted again by gun shots, a shotgun, and I got no help from the police or game warden. Friday was my mission to find help. I went to city hall, I know that sounds silly but this is where I started, then I was sent to the chief of police, from there I went to the county records office. Now I knew all my rights. Last I drove to the headquarters of the fish and game and I got in touch with the supervisor, to file a complaint against the officer than was not doing his job. Last night the supervisor called and asked to come today, I agreed. When he arrived I showed him my maps and a list of the people who I talked with yesterday. I gave him a copy. Since Tony is not able to walk the property today I took the head man on a walk to where the problem is happening. I showed him fresh tracks from someone being in that area today. He seen all of my no hunting and no trespassing signs. Once we reached the area he began to collect evidence. He told me to wait right here, on my side of the mashed down fence, and he walked the land on the other side, collected more evidence. We got back to the house and he went over what he can and can`t do. His plan was to talk to them and then to the police. And come back. I reminded him that if the locals won`t help I will go to the Governor, this will stop. When he asked how did I want this resolved I said "I just want them to leave us alone, stop shooting up my stuff, I hate for the kid to go to jail but it has to stop." A couple hours passed and he came back, in tow was the game warden that did not do his job. When Tony asked " who is that with you?" the guy said his name and I added " he is the one we have been arguing on the phone with." That guy never spoke again. The supervisor told me it was over, they would not be hunting that land anymore. I am sure when he told the parents they are responsible for their teenage sons behavior that stopped it plus the knowledge that its a felony punishable with jail time and lost rights to ever own a gun again. When I asked about the police he said they were on the way there now. So at this moment, I am relived that this hunting/ shooting/ bull is over. Thank God! I have always had faith in the legal system and I reckon the attorney in me knew what I had to do, beat on doors and gather information. And that is why I have been away and tight lipped for a few day. I had to get`er done! How was your Saturday?

That is great news. And the absolute right way to go about getting a permanent solution.

When I was in my 20`s I wanted to be an attorney so back but never went for it, but I did buy the text books and I read them, I am better doing wills and estates. People used to ask me legal questions and would get mad when I would grill them, I would just smile and tell them that is exactly what the police would do, get your proof then go. I think I allowed it for this long because I am tired and worried with Tony so I trusted the locals and that was my mistake.

A good day for writing stories of heroism on this site and Virily.com I will probably have to buy a new printer since my Canon printer does not print any images from the computer or a piece of paper since it claims it is not plugged to the computer or the paper is empty.

I have so much documented and so many officers of law with evidence on hand they will be stupid. My dogs are in their fenced area. EDIT: I am sue that he got through to them, because of one mans name, that made the whole thing change.

So glad someone finally did something for you that was positive! Hubby worked so we did a little school work. Tomorrow I'm doing a me day, I will probably still clean as I rather enjoy it but will do what I want when I want. Just down time is what I feel I need right now.

I really hope it is all over now. I am glad someone finally listened to you and took action. I am always so scared of retaliation so I tolerate as much as possible but I know you did the right thing.

Good for you! Sometimes you need to do what needs to be done to solve a problem. Around here it is popular to get the media involved if people can't resolve a problem. Local agencies who don't want to be embarassed..find a way to resolve issues it seems when their customers show up on TV.

I can’t believe you had to contact all those people to have it done. One phone call should’ve been enough to make them do their job

Should have yes. Seems some people are friends with certain people so the " crazy woman" that lives here is ignored. Crazy aint got nothing to do with stupid and I am far from stupid and I most certainly know that I have rights when I am reading the book the state gives out with what is illegal to do as far as hunting.

We had a nice day. I can't believe the game warden and the local police hadn't acted upon this shooting! It's a violation, against the law, and being committed on private property. What more evidence did those men need? At least this garbage is coming to an end, the best part about it!

@andriaperry That's what I had to do last week at work, when I found something that I KNEW was being done the wrong way. I went straight to the district manager and was like this is not right and I wanted you to know what was going on. And it actually got something accomplished.

Good for you, I'm glad you stuck it out and got results! Some things take a lot of work to get results as you are well aware of. I had issues with utility companies that I have had to go rounds with. I will be more specific in a discussion.
