Frugal Food: Dinner for under $10

Tonight was greek pork chops and grits. The 12 pack of grits was $2.38, the greek dressing was $1.88. The pack of four pork chops was $4.06 and the cheese probably cost about $0.75 cents, and the seasonings were about $0.50. The whole meal, which fed both of us was $9.57. Not my cheapest meal by far, but still for what we got- it was a great deal. Tomorrow I will plan the meals I need to shop for on Wednesday when I do grocery shopping.

Sounds really good. :) For lunch we had chicken tortilla soup, added avocado, topped with cheese & chips. Our lunch cost us less than $6-7 for 2.

We had Mexican food tonight. It was cheap for me because I didn't have to pay for it, but it cost someone some money. It was a huge spread. My friends and family got together and threw a birthday party for me and one of my daughters. They really showed us that we were loved. And btw, you can never go wrong cooking pork chops.

That's pretty awesome. Tonight we are having clam strips, baked potatoes and oyster stuffing, and green beans.

My partner and I went on a weekend trip to Phillip Islands here in Vic, Australia and we decided to stay in a hostel where we had access to a kitchen. The idea was to try not to overspend by eating out in restaurants. So we bought a meal for two, cooked us some steak and veggies which was surprisingly really good considering we only had butter, salt, and pepper as condiments. Next day we had a breakfast of eggs, bacon, and toast. All that, we spend 30 something bucks - Dinner and Breakfast. Given the prices here in Oz, that weekend getaway wasn't really splurgy at all.
