All Set For Christmas Cards Next Year

Or is it this year? Well, you know what I mean (I hope.) At any rate, I got a good deal on Christmas cards earlier from Big Lots. They were 75 percent off so I ended up buying three boxes at $1.25 each. With tax it only came to $4.02, which was still less than the original price ($5) for only one box. These were good quality cards too, not the flimsy ones I usually get from the Dollar Tree. So, I'm happy with the deal I got. Now, if only I remember that I bought them (never mind where I put them) next Christmas!

@Srbageldog Select Target went 90% at different times. My local Target went on clearance after January 2nd, I believe the 3rd. I got a bunch of stuff. I literally spend $100 something and saved over $1000. But at different targets. I didn't get a lot of neat stuff like other people did (I saw on IG), but next year I'll try to visit a different Target. I think all the Targets now are sold out. But stores like Walmart just hit 90% and Walgreens/CVS are at 75% should be 90% too but I skipped on that since I have a bunch of goodies already.

@infatuatedbby Ahh, good to know! Our Target was at 30% off last time I checked, but that was right after Christmas, and I haven't been back since. I did get some discounted Christmas candy at Walgreens recently, which was half off...I will have to check back there once they hit 90%. And maybe check out Walmart again too.

90% off is an awesome deal! I would have stocked up on stuff too, if Target had had those discounts when I went. (Maybe I need to hit them up again and see if they have anything left.)

I still have many beautiful Christmas cards from the past years and I almost no more sent out cards, they will last for the rest of my days.

It is expensive to send out cards these days. But I still send them to select family and friends (although I prefer just sending them to friends!)

I haven't purchased a single discounted item this year. The ornaments were sold out last week. I don't think I found cards either. Walmart had slim pickings. I am going to try Kmart this week and see what I can find there. Perhaps RiteAid will have some too.

Most of the stores around here have either had slim pickings or the discounts weren't that great. I was happy to find the cards, since most of the cards I have found marked down weren't that great.

I usually just print out personal cards for close friends and family. Maybe I should send you the other picture I Have of the boy pouting in reindeer antlers as a picture this year lol, but it is rather old as I don't think he was even two yet in that picture. I wouldn't send personal ones to random people though. I'm pretty sure most people don't want random pictures of my kid lol. I surprisingly didn't buy much on Christmas clearance this year. I did get a couple of belated Christmas gifts for Cory though. My mom was annoyed because she paid full price for her's lol. I bought our Christmas tree on clearance for ten dollars one year after Christmas as the stand on our old one broke. I wish I would have picked up more lights.

@Srbageldog lol, Cory tries a lot of nasty stuff because he is curious, I am sure you remember his post from when he tried those nasty Oreo's a year or so ago. I can't remember off hand which flavor they were, I think maybe Sweetish fish but I'm not entirely sure, either way, they sounded nasty. He was the only one daring enough to try them. My mom got them free from someone so thankfully no money was spent but we couldn't get anyone to take them from us lol. I am all for free or discounted stuff but only if I have a real use for it.

@sissy15 Ahh, yes, I remember that post. They did indeed sound nasty, like the type of cookie to give you red diarrhea.

I really wanted to make personalized cards on Shutterfly (I had a promotional code for 10 free cards), but the code expired before I got to use it. So I guess people are getting cards from American Greetings next Christmas. I got a pack of ornament hooks from Walgreens yesterday for 90 percent off...they came to 9 cents. Also bought a bag of Brach's fruitcake flavored nougat, which was 29 cents. I only bought them because I kept seeing them during the holidays and they were cheap and I was curious. By the way, I don't recommend them. I ate two and gave the rest of the bag to my parents, who actually liked them, because old people are weird and like candy that tastes funky to the rest of us.

That's quite a deal. I Have rarely paid full price for them. When I was a card buyer for a bookstore, I got an employee discount. Before I quite I bought enough to last the rest of my life and still have most of them. (I quit over thirty years ago.) Since I rarely send them any more, I don't expect I'll ever have to buy another one. The only exception is that I buy ones I make myself at Zazzle. And I only buy those when they are on sale or when there's a great deal on postage. I figure most I would send cards to now I either hadn't met yet when I first started sending the cards in my stash or they are so old they would have forgotten getting the same card before. I never send everyone on my list the same card anyway. When I still sent cards to a large list every year, I kept records of who I'd sent which cards to so I wouldn't repeat. Now I don't bother.

Sounds like you're set for life! It seems the list of relatives I send cards to grows smaller and smaller each year...but I do like exchanging cards with my online friends. I used to send out tons of cards to relatives, but after so many times of not getting one back, I just mark them off my list. I love designing cards online! I do that sometimes on Shutterfly, but also wait until I have a promotional code. I designed a bunch of cards in November because I had a code for 10 free cards, but it expired before I placed my order, and they cost too much at regular price. So I have saved the designs for the next time I get that type of promotional code. Keeping records of which card you sent to each person was a good way to stay organized. I sometimes worry about sending the same card two years in a row. But, my grandma and aunt never seemed to pay attention to that (as I'd often get the same card from them multiple years in a row,) so I guess it doesn't matter if I do it in return.

@Srbageldog If a card has a personal note or yearly letter in it, I don't care if I've gotten it before. People buy boxes of notecards with the same design and send them over and over and I think people care more about what's written by hand in the card than they care whether they've seen the art before.

@bagarad That's what I always figured. It's the message inside that is important. Although nowadays people aren't even bothering to write anything in their cards, a lot of people just send flat "cards" (often featuring a picture of their kids) with no personal message, just "From So-and-so Family." I always try to include a personal message when I send out cards.

Put them in a clear shoe box on the top shelf, that is where I keep my cards so I can grab and go when I need them.

I miss e-cards being free. Might still be cheaper than sending out actual cards though. I am lazy too, I always put off sending out cards till the last moment, and then I gripe about the price of stamps.

So long as you do not store the cards in some safe place ,you will remember them for this year's Christmas.

Awesome, I'm counting on it! I love these after-Christmas discounts. Cards are so expensive before Christmas! I always see such nice ones that I'd love to send, but I don't want to spend $16 on a pack of cards! So I think from now on I will wait and stock up after Christmas and just save them for the next time the holiday rolls around.

Well, these were on discount, so I will save them for next year. Then I won't have to spend more money buying new cards. I don't send Easter cards out or even really celebrate it.

This past Christmas, I was given 3 boxes of Christmas cards for free. The week before Christmas, I went to write some cards out and could not find them. Still cannot find them. I know where I set them too. They just vanished. Really weird.

Maybe they slipped into a parallel universe, or a ghost is playing games with you (if you believe in that sort of thing.) It is frustrating when things turn up missing like that, especially when you KNOW where you put it.
